“These federal officials should be tried for treason. And then shot.”

Not having had my evening coffee, there is so much hemoglobin in my caffeine stream that perhaps my memory fails me - wasn’t the traditional punishment for treason drawing and quartering?

In Britain, yes.. In other places, the punisments were different, but equally gruesome, and equally lethal. Drawing and quartering was never really practiced here, having only been done once, in Rhode Island colony, at the end of the Naragansett War, on a colonist who sided with the indigenes...
