Dissident republicans from Northern Ireland are engaged in suspicious activity more than any other radical group in the UK including Islamic extremists, according to security sources.
Some claim that the Northern Irish terror threat is as significant now as it was during the time of the Omagh bombing 10 years ago and that up to 80 hardcore dissidents could be plotting attacks.
Among those they may target are Catholic police officers in a bid to deter young Catholics and nationalists from joined the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), and prison officers, the sources say.

I don’t believe it, it’s just more propaganda from the apologists for the “ROP” (how do you do that “tm” sign?), to divert attention from the growing Muslim threat there. I wonder how plain the Muslims have to make themselves, before the idiots believe what they’re saying? When they manage (and they’re going to achieve it) to enact sharia law? When they televise the first beheadings? When the last man has been dhimmi-ised? When?
The IRA has been training with Muslim radicals for thirty years or so. This isn’t about religion.
It is about hating Western Civilization and the free world.
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the IRA get one thing it wanted when the British removed the troops stationed there?
Does this mean 72 Irish virgins will be waiting for every IRA mick’ who bombs Dublin?
Getting British troops out of Northern Ireland was something really obvious and highly symbolic. But the IRA long ago threw its fate in with left-wing radical groups and became atheist-Marxist radicals, and have more in common with many of the ME terror groups.
I’m betting that the IRA is teaming up with the Muslim extremists, since, as you pointed out, they have the same mindset and goals.
W00t! dears! A substitute Ireland ping, for what it’s worth. Somebody please let me know if this is significant :-).
There are fewer Irish Republican crazies, though.
...and Europe, for all if its flaws, also gave the IRA much of what it wanted, including open borders and a much reduced emphasis on Westminster.
It is true that there is not just a single currency on the island, but that is not the fault of the UK. Ireland is on the Euro and NI on the pound. There is not a single, sovereign government over the entire island, but nor is NI just simply dominated by Westminster. As everything shifts to Brussels, seems that the Republicans get some of what they wanted, and lose some of what they wanted but in a way which makes those goals simply gone forever.
Either way, Europe (among other factors) has taken the air out of the Republican balloon for good.
