I would liken the situation to one where a medical school was seeking a new attending physician for it program in emergency medicine. They have narrowed it down to two candidates. One has been a doc, working in a big city hospital for years, the other has only recently finished his residency and worked for a spell at a walk-in clinic. While the school is deciding which one is better for the position they have to kill some time. The experienced doc heads for the ER where the new attending will spend most of his time. He talks to staff, cheers up a few patients, gets a feel for how the place is different from his present position. The other is storming all over the region, visiting trauma centers, trying to get a crash course in emergency care! My question would be, if you're a resident in this particular program which attending would you rather learn from?
Or better still, if you were arriving at a level one trauma center by helicopter which doc would you prefer to see standing over you in the ER?
In Germany, Dr. Obama could have gone to Lundstahl to visit wounded soldiers and Marines. He went to the gym instead. There is your proof.
