I am in Warrenton VA and live next to a COMMUNITY PARK. When I came back at 1145 saw people at the Pavilion setting up a grill and there were about 15 people—couple Adults, the rest children. I thought it was going to be a family picnic until I saw the sign PROMOTING OBAMA 2008. Then ran through my mind of what the reaction would be say if the KKK decided to use a public park for a political rally or even worse, the NRA. But knowing in my heart of hearts that one of the reasons I donated my youth to the US Navy was so people could have the right to assemble etc. The only thing that bothered me was what the reaction may be late in the day, as this area of VA does sport more than one Stars and Bars on Vehicles and houses. I ‘snuck a peak on occasion’ and never saw more than a handful of people at any given time, mostly white, young and surprisingly, a lot of older folks. I never did see a large contingent of blacks at the event, not saying they may not have been there in droves but I didn’t observe any. I ‘snuck a peak’ around 1PM and saw a young girl (black between 8-11) with a hand full of posters heading for the houses and apartments next to the park. When I heard a light tap on the door I chose NOT to answer as I really didn’t want to COMPLETELY CRUSH HER DREAMS if she was persistent in sharing her ‘message’ with me. She left a blue folder in the mailbox (OH BO PEOPLE, THIS IS OR AT LEAST WAS A FEDERAL OFFENSE.)
I left and picked up the flier which is titled `100 DAYS COUNTDOWN WEEKEND`, Block Party for Change, Jul 26 @ 1PM. It didn’t mention food or anything but invited all to help with the tag line `CHANGE CAN’T HAPPEN WITHOUT YOU`. I returned in about an hour or so and basically the same small group of people was still there, with the same cars parked on the street with the crowd being largely ‘yuppie style’ white, to many ‘elderly whites to suit my frame of mind’ and a handful of blacks. In their defense, they were orderly, I wouldn’t have known they were there if I hadn’t observed them setting up, and, lo and behold ‘THEY POLICED THE AREA AFTER THEY FINISHED, ACTUALLY LEAVING IT CLEANER THAN WHEN THEY GOT THERE’ At least that is an improvement from past ‘Liberal’ gatherings where they make sure they leave plenty of trash so the oppressed workers can clean up after them. I will be very interested to see how the local paper writes it up and if this is a ‘National Event’ am sure the MSM will tag it as millions rally for Obama?????
