Roy Obama did not “convert”. He did not have to.
In the article Kezia states that her husband Barack (from the arabic word Baracka for “blessed”) Hussein Obama Sr was a muslim. So his sons did not have to convert. They were born to a muslim father, it was his duty as a muslim to provide a muslim education for his muslim children. So Roy went to madrassah in Nairobi. There was no “conversion- there was only Roy’s choice to not diverge from his father’s religion to his mother’s, which would have mnade him an apostate if done in his teens or later.
