I am offended by Michael Savage and the people on this thread who have no empathy for families dealing with autism.

YES, government schools, state entities, lawyers, and the entire Autism Cottage Industry are profiting. And some of that is DEAD wrong. There is very little to be done for high-functioning autism, and the best things that can be done, can be done for free (or the cost of a parent’s full time duty).

But autism is very real, and probably caused by more than only genetics. There is SOMETHING different in our nutrition, environment, vaccines, that is acting as a neurotoxin to our children. Autism is NOT the only epidemic hitting us. Many auto-immune chronic conditions are also more prevalent and deadly than before — asthma, just to name one.

Autistic kids might be the canaries in the coal mine for the health of our nervous systems (including our brains).

Autism is very serious and families dealing with it need empathy and moral support, not accusations of bad parenting.

Regarding your statement "I am offended by Michael Savage and the people on this thread who have no empathy for families dealing with autism", leaves me wondering what you really feel about those families who have to deal with it ~ since several other Feepers (on many of these "Savage Nation" threads) have already noted that Michael has/had a brother who is autistic?

Do you have empathy for "all the families" but not Michael, or for Michael and the other families, or you are offended by Michael and all the other families ~ or what?

All America wants to know your real position.

Frankly, I am wildly indignant about these comprehensive statements that end up being internally inconsistent with reality. Just aim me in any direction eh.

Comment:

Excellent comments worth repeating.

As I posted earlier I am very disappointed with some of my fellow FReeper comments concerning morons, retards and spastics.

It would be nice if Autism was a disease that infected only Liberal radical Democrats but that just isn't so.

As Michael Whiner aka Savage is heaping crap on Conservatives once again some are posting a horrible defense of what he said.

I am the parent of an Autistic child and have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars out of pocket trying to prove all the other professional diagnoses was wrong.

Truth is about the only cure I know of right know is prayer.

RE: "the people on this thread who have no empathy for families dealing with autism"

I am puzzled why you cannot extend to us the courtesy to acknowledge that virtually all if not everyone, including of course Savage is talking about kids who have been misdiagnosed either due to lack of knowledge or on purpose.

This is getting out of hand as much as the ILLEGAL alien debate -- for years some FRpeers screamed "Bigot!" "Racist!" instead of having the courtesy to acknowledge that we were NOT talking about legal immigration and legal residents.

I’ve been reading all this regarding Autism and seeing everyone’s arguing back and forth and I was just waiting for the “it’s our vaccines” shoe to drop and finally, it did. Over all these years that vaccines have been used, now it’s being attached to the accounts of autism?

Give me a break! These vaccines were put in place for a reason, and now all of these parents who blame it on the vaccines are NOT vaccinating their children and we’re seeing huge cases of diseases, long been banished from this country, rearing their ugly heads!! Polio, whooping cough, etc...and of course, there is SOMETHING that has changed, perhaps we should look at the connection of let’s see...the relative relationship of those parents who experimented with certain types of drugs in their past and it’s connection to the autism their kids are experiencing.

For some reason, there are myriads of variables here, and I find it interesting that the medical field is jumping all over this great idea that the vaccines are to blame! Of course, why vaccinate when you can possibly wring millions of dollars out of the insurance companies with the rise of all these long-banished illnesses! Yay - go autistm-parents! I think that maybe, just maybe, people ought to start looking at themselves as opposed to finding an external reason for these cases of autism. But hey, it’s always easier to place blame than to accept it for ourselves.

‘Course, it’s just an opinion, but I certainly expect to get laced up the nearest flagpole because I said it.
