I would think that they would not deny a retired General Officer, or any retired military member, access to the post. Access to the hospital itself and the wounded troops is another matter.

Under other circumstances they wouldn't. The retired general is a member of Obama's political staff & so barred under the Pentagon policy. Would they have bent the rules for another retired officer? Who knows?

Asking the question, however, feeds into the conclusion that Obama wants you to draw from this.
