I'm skeptical that it has happened, that we are vulnerable is certain, though on the north as well.

If Bin Laden is dying of kidney failure, won’t he have cause to set off his nukes just before he dies?

Would it be wrong to hope that Austin and Seattle are on the list?

We do not know how old these "Suitcase" bombs are, if they exist.

Should they be used, the citizenry will address the Problem regardless of whether the government is paralyzed or not.

It would take a lot more than 20 suitcase-sized nukes to end this nation.

if there’s credible evidence that this happened,

then, these weapons can be retrieved by the feds.

i’m not into hysteria.

the dems around me are hysterical.

We can fully expect and prepare for a third NY area attack sometime during the year 2010. Here’s why:
1) AQ has boasted they will do it. In the Die Speigel interviews, the “Fourth Phase” was described as a “return” attack on American interests, abroad and home.
2) We are believed to be vulnerable following elections and administration changes. Clinton in 93 WTC basement, Bush 9/11.
3) In the possibility that AQ does not have these weapons, Iran will by 2010, possibly earlier.

...while the Left, ever since 9/11, has argued passionately against sealing the southern U.S. border

The left? My goodness gracious. The president (ever since 911), John McCain and many Republicans in power, as well as those appointed by Bush, who are supposed to protect our border and sovereignty, have led the way in keeping the border wide open. I understand that the dems and the left have wanted that as well. But the ones in power have championed the current status and even attempted to escalate it. They have tried to call it something else, and otherwise obfuscate their intentions with language, sneak elements of it (amnesty and open borders) into legislation and would do it arrogantly and outright in a heartbeat if not for the possible public backlash. Even now, they are simply waiting for our guard to be lowered. The left? Well then, except for an outspoken few... they are ALL "the left."

I think IF AQ had even one small nuke they would set it off, claim there are many many more in cities across the US, then demand we remove all our military forces from Muslim territories.

I'm skeptical, too.
If Al Qaeda had nukes they would have used one by now.
And nukes, especially small ones, are not “shelf-stable.” They take regular maintenance to get a good “Boom!” of ‘em. I don't know of any evidence that Al Qaeda has the knowledge or equipment to do this, especially once they are in place.

I thought the American Hiroshima was about killing at least three thousand or more US children, the children being specifically targeted.

Does anyone out there (who can talk about it) know anything about the Soviet “suitcase bombs”? I have heard three thoughts over the years.
1. They don’t exist, and there never were any.
2. They are not suitcase size they are refrigerator size.
3. They need to be serviced. The original ones are now no longer functional.

Can anyone help me out?

If Chechen rebels had suitcase nukes they wouldn't be selling them to AQ. They'd be setting them off in Moscow to get their independence from the Ruskies.

Ergo, this article is hooey.

If the Chechen's had 40 suitcase nukes, remembering these are the same people who organized that school massacre, what are the odds that they would give them up instead of demanding the Russians capitulate or face the consequences?

Lame indeed.

The whole suitcase nuke theory has been going around for years now. It was started by a nut named Paul Williams. I am sorry to see that Weyrich has bought into it. Richard Miniter thoroughly debunked this theory in a book a few years ago.

This is too bad because it distracts from the fact that our borders are indeed truly vulnerable, that intelligence indicates Al Qaeda knows this and reports that Hezbollah has been involved in human smuggling along the Mexican border.

But when someone trots out the whole 20 suitcase nukes theory, all that gets lost in the bull####.

Two fundamental conclusions on this state of affairs: Either the right has been out thought and out maneuvered over a period of generations or their political and economic methodology have been rendered obsolete in an age of instant communication wherein electronic media compose the analog to a global nervous system. Our backs are against the wall, the capitalist oligarchy should be relieved of command and an economy of actual competition instituted. The suppression of certain theories and technologies discovered by Nikola Tesla a hundred years ago constitutes a fatal misfeasance. Read ‘em and weep, kidz.
