The problem I have is most (if not all) of the damaging quotes are where he is describing things that others said or wrote - Malcolm X, someone called “Ray,” and so forth.

Without reading the context in the book, I can’t tell if he is stating that to repudiate it or agrees with it.

And trust me - I have no plans of reading Obama’s books.

Whomever assembled that video appears to have cherry-picked quotes.

Exactly correct. I just read the “Ray” quote last night. In the book, he is Barak’s friend with whom he discusses black and white issues. Barak neither supports nor opposes his views, but wonders about them.

This is why I'm slogging through “Dreams of My Father”—to understand this man. I've read about 5 chapters. He's very self absorbed and insecure. Not someone I want in the Oval Office.
