Yeah; paid for by us for his benefit, and probably will take the land for the right-of-way by Emminent Domain, "for the Common Good"....

Now where have we heard THAT phrase before????

When someone uses a patented liberal talking point like “we can’t drill our way of of this” that sends up a red flag for me. It also irritates me because it’s just aid and comfort to the enemy. Democrats!

We need Nuclear, Gas, Wind and Coal Power. Who do you hink can afford to build a power plant in this Country?

The list is quite short and I’m pretty sure you’re not on it.

We haven’t built a Refinery in decades and yet we have people burying their heads in the sand because it may cost too much or some guy may get too much benefit. Unreal.

To me, it’s basic supply and demand. Increase supply and the cost WILL go down. To offer the most expensive solution to the problem, while relying on un-mentioned subsidies and federal mandates to achieve it, is disingenuous at best.

Check out the link I posted in #60 above for some numbers of how Mr. Greenmail’s little selfless act of saving the planet works out for him.

And if we want to get serious about monies going abroad for vital resources, we’ll all be demanding our pharmaceuticals not be produced in China and India, our basic foods not be produced in latin-america, and be picketing outside WalMart.

“I’d question the efficacy of ‘Wind Power’, not the Man.”

Thanks for saying it. This article is about “Swiftboating” as the MSM likes to refer to the trashing of someone or something.

Wind power relies on the wind. In some parts of the country it is a great Idea. In others it’s not. As for the reliability of the generators themselves. I’m not so sure they require more upkeep than say Boilers, Pumps etc... at a Nuke, Coal or Gas plant.

Thats the real question for some.

Thanks, calcowgirl. I did read it and it confirms my suspicions. In the past few days I have also read that the right of way for his transmission lines hasn’t been approved and ample citations for how unreliable windmills are have been posted.

**Is T. Boone Pickens ‘Swiftboating’ America?**

How about Swiftboating the dimocrats? Isn’t that more accurate? LOL!

But hold the phone. Only 16 percent of our imported oil comes from the Persian Gulf — barely up from 13.6 percent in 1973, according to the DOE. Imports from OPEC countries are actually down — from 47.8 percent in 1973 to 44.5 percent in 2007.

Comment:

I take it you do not buy that the world is using as much oil that is being produced.

Whether our oil comes from the Middle East or from Tim Buck Too doesn’t matter.

We take X amount out of the worlds oil supply so if our regular suppliers of Venezuela, Canada, Mexico, Colombia don't sell to us and they sell to say China then we would have to buy our oil needs from say China's old suppliers.

The fact is we have a lot of people acting like liberal Democrats mouthing negatives about things they absolutely have very little or no idea about.

What America needs is a well rounded program encompassing all of the sources of energy available right now and that is Solar, Coal, Natural Gas, Nuclear, Wind and a very active Drilling program.

Is T. Boone Pickens ‘Swiftboating’ America?

Actually America is being not Swiftboated but screwed by the partisan ignorance of Nancy Pelosie, Hairy Reid and all the dumb@ssed supporters of the messiah Obama.

Radical Liberals who want to see all Americans on par and sinking into third world mediocrity with their European counterparts.

Just the lowly opinion of a person with an oily past.

I saw the link earlier. Not sure what to think since I’m in the stats business myself.

Funny thing... I was trying to confirm the Import vs Domestic Oil production for the US and couldn’t find it. Stats every where and of every kind yet not the obvious. Maybe I missed it. http://www.eia.doe.gov/

Any form of Electricity production is getting subsidies. The more we fight amongst ourselves and make people like T Boone the Villians the more victories for Pelosi and Obama.

I live in the Texas Panhandle so I get first shot at what T Boone is up to. He has every body around here up in arm’s because he wants to sell our water to DFW. Build a 6’ pipeline 400 miles and let er rip... Unfortunately he’s probably right about the water. In 20 years when 30 million people live in the DFW Metroplex, are a few Ranchers and regular folks going to get in the way of that mob?

IOWs no critical analysis allowed. Just take his deal and shut up.

He right, unless of course we have 20 years to get there.

In Wyoming the pipelines are at full capacity. Barnett Shalle same thing. Oil companies want to build distribution facilites and tie into the DFW area pipelins but are running into road blocks. Alaskan Oil production has been falling for several years. North Slope production is winding down with nothing to replace it.

Natural Gas is still plentiful and this guy has an angle. T Boone has been trying to sell Natural Gas for vehicles since the 1980’s. Great for an Engine but just not as easy to get to Market.

“Only 16 percent of our imported oil comes from the Persian Gulf — barely up from 13.6 percent in 1973?”

well, ya don’t have to be a math major to figure out that 16% of todays volume is a hellofalot more than 13.6% of 1973’s volume....or do you need a calculator?

And, by purchasing 44.5% of our oil from OPEC we are paying for the WOT on BOTH ENDS...you can figure that out too...can’t you?

“I take it you do not buy that the world is using as much oil that is being produced.”

I am sure what you’re saying but the oil market remains tight, evidenced by rising prices, low surplus production capacity, and the concern that global supply growth may not keep pace with demand.

“Whether our oil comes from the Middle East or from Tim Buck Too doesn’t matter.”

It may not “matter” to you but those of us who want to get off our foreign oil dependency; it “matters” a hellofalot because the sooner we can become energy independent of OPEC, the sooner we can tell our enemies to take their oil and shove it where the sun don’t shine and the sooner we can quit spending 700 BILLION DOLLARS a year to purchase foreign oil instead of at home and the sooner we can quit paying for the WOT on BOTH ENDS...you do realize that too...don’t you? I KNOW it “matters” to my fellow Marines who are damn tired of having to go to the Middle East to “take out the trash.” Let the muzzies “take out their own trash” for a change. And the only way that is going to happen is for America and the rest of the world to become independent of Middle East oil.

"He's 80+ yrs old. I met the man some 15 yrs ago... & I assure you he's an honorable & extremely intelligent man. He doesn't need the money, he knows he can't take it to the grave. I honestly believe he's trying to do the right thing for the country's future."

Ditto bbb.

Note, T. Boone is Republican. He advertises on the most valuable AM radio program. His spiel is "all availabe energy in the U.S.A. Texas just happens to be subsidizing wind right now.

He is promoting McCain's energy program, the Republican program.

This is as good a campaign "in kind" contribution as a 527. And he might make a buck on the side.

Remember, he helped finance the Swift Boaters.

This isn’t about the oil companies. This is about sending our wealth to other than our own economy and to people that don’t like us and many other reasons. Oil has done a lot of good but its time to move on.

“Energy independence in 6 easy steps.

#1. Drill
#2. Keep drilling.
#3. Oil-to-diesel plants in every coal producing state.
#4. Oil shale big-time.
#5. Nukes.
#6. More nukes.”

You have the right answers Marron. T. Boone can go jump in the lake with his windmills.

In the graph for the last few years supply has been flat while demand has continued to rise hence the higher prices. So speculators nor U.S. oil companies had not been manipulating prices. But OPEC(Muslims) have been limiting supply.
