Talk Radio Network, the syndicator of Michael Savage's "Savage Nation" radio show, issued the following statement today:
On Michael Savage's Autism Comments
There have been numerous calls in recent days for Michael Savage, who hosts The Michael Savage Show for Talk Radio Network (the Network), to be fired or suspended for his brief 84 seconds of commentary concerning autism during the July 16th broadcast of the Show.
Promptly after the Networks management learned of the comments in issue, the Network commenced an investigation into the particulars and the circumstances of those comments. This investigation began with the Networks CEO, Mark Masters, personally contacting Dr. Savage to address the concerns and obtain an explanation of the comments directly from Dr. Savage.
In that conversation, and other subsequent conversations between Mr. Masters and Dr. Savage, Dr. Savage explained the circumstances and intent of his statements in considerable detail. The Network also carefully monitored subsequent broadcasts of the Show, on Monday, July 21st and Tuesday, July 22nd, which were devoted to the subject of autism and further explanations by Dr. Savage of his views on the subject.

Nobody was talking about censorship- only government can censor. This was an issue of whether Savage’s comments had pissed off so many people that his network did not want to be associated with him.
Nobody is claiming Mr. Weiner does not have the right to his opinion, however idiotic. But if his employer decided to drop him because his opinions were causing them business problems, that would be their right.
The fact is that he’s right. I have a 21 year old autistic nephew. HE IS AUTISTIC. Today, any child who doesn’t act within the “norm” of how the parents think they should act are labeled ‘autistic.” It’s not only wrong, but it’s devestating for the child who is now labeled for life.
Deep, manly voices have always been a staple in radio. They call it a “radio voice”. It is not the fault of TSN fans, Rush fans or any other talk radio personality that Levin does NOT have a voice for radio.
Yes we're definitely impressed with Savage's 'schtick' as you want to call it, as I guess are 400 radio stations and 8-10 million Americans making Savage the 3rd most listened to talkshow host in the country.
Of course the Savage schtick isn't for everyone and that's unfortunate. It's rare these days and refreshing to finally hear someone who doesn't back down from his convictions and apologize in what has become an apology nation where 'apologizing' for offending some group has become the requirement and order of the day.
Silly me...I listen to the substance.
What are Weiner's convictions? Is it to fund Moonbeam Brown again while still pretending to be a Conservative?
Yes, the gullible always think that "their guy" is "the only one" to "finally hear someone", etc.
The left is in a two way bind here. They want everyone diagnosed with something and drugged in order to have better control of the population and to promote the idea that everyone has to be under the care of Big Brother. At the same time they hate Big Pharma as much as they hate Big Oil and Big Cheese and all other large Capitalist entities.
If all I can do is listen to someone, they should sound good. Most radio personalities (male or female) have voices on the lower end of the spectrum. (One of the reasons I haven’t tried to get into radio.)
A wonderful radio voice is one of the reasons I’m a fan of you know who. ; )
Roy Masters is the father of the owner of Talk Radio Network...he has this late night show....

Such a sweet voice too eh?
I love it when someone calls in to say "how are you Dr. Savage". If the caller persists in being nice, Dr. Savage's voice gets sweeter and sweeter right?
How about the time he was fired from MSNBC. He used that "wonderful radio voice" at that time too didn't he?
I should really try and train my ears to the wonderful intonations of someone screaming to the top of their lungs on my car radio.
Thanks for awakening me to that persective.
Hooray!!!!!!
I was talking about the Korean you know who. I wouldn’t call Savage’s voice “sweet” although it is on the deeper end of the scale, which is good for radio.
Savage is, of course, nuts. But why shouldn’t he have the same right to free speech as we all pretend to have? Parents with autistic children have every right to be angry with his remarks, but, surely, there are countless offices and agencies devoted to their cause, offices and agencies that will bombard the media with endless statistics and anecdotes to justify their positions. Why must one man be silenced for saying something that runs contrary to the ‘official line?’ Over the past few years, lots and lots of commentators have said things about America and the current Bush administration that I find both wrong and inflammatory, but, like many Americans, I have held my fire and accepted the fact that people have a right to be nuts and to say so in the public forum.
He should but he doesn’t. : ( OTOH, he does a lot of TV commercials.
Why should someone be fired for speaking the truth?
