We also paid our fair share (if not more, we lived in NJ all of our lives until Dec. 2007!) of taxes while we rented, property and all other taxes.

I will not argue that you didn't pay a lot in taxes, but the fact is you did not pay your fair share. Again, NO one in America is paying their "fair" share. Landowners pay far MORE than their fair share.

Think about the distribution of how income taxes are collected. The top 1% of earners pay 39% of the tax revenue, and the bottom 50% pay only 3%. Think about that...

Most people pay far less than their "fair" share and a few pay far more than their fair share. It's just an ugly truth under today's liberal government.

First I will admit to not being a math whiz. Out of $13,310 rent paid in a year, our property taxes paid were $2396...on something we didn’t even own of course, renters pay the landlord’s property taxes.

Now owning a home with an acre of property, our property taxes are $2600 (out of NJ, otherwise it would be near triple that!), seems a bit comparable.

I agree about how income taxes are collected, but not that only landowners should be allowed to vote.
