You've probably heard the story about the tycoon who wanted to bring out a new kind of dog food.
He spent lavishly. He hired the best marketing person, the top PR firm, the best ad agency, the No. 1 packaging expert, the most powerful distributor -- but the sales were flat after six months.
He summoned his consultants to a meeting and asked why the food wasn't selling. "The dogs won't eat it," was the answer that came back.
And so it is with Mitt Romney. Despite outspending his rivals by huge margins throughout the primaries, the dogs won't eat it. He lost Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida and California. The only primaries he won were in Michigan, where Dad was governor; LDS states; and a few states on Super Tuesday in which his California-obsessed rivals couldn't spare the cash to advertise. Only John Connolly in 1968 had a worse cash-to-delegates ratio.
And John McCain rightly did not like Romney's tactics during the primaries. Using his gigantic money advantage to dominate television, he seized early leads in virtually all of the primary states, only to lose them later on. And, when they started slipping away, he resorted to unfair, distorted, scorched-earth negative ads, betting that his opponents couldn't afford to spend enough for the truth to catch up to his charges.

You’re the one spinning, and not all that well.
Nothing was clearly implied about evangelicals. You know you have a very weak argument when the have to start claiming things were implied, though not at all said.
Who will you support once he stops paying you ?
I agree - good point. McCain/Palin all the way!!!!!
“Guess again. This “he’s not as bad as the other guy” ain’t gonna wash.”
And, so, you’re already declaring McCain the loser? That is the only appeal some can find to make in McCain’s favor.
And it will apply more to the top of the ticket than the bottom, to which you’re trying to apply it.
“I agree - good point. McCain/Palin all the way!!!!! “
It’s strange that FR is about the only place I ever see Palin mentioned. Is she on McCain’s list? Have they met as he’s met with several other possibilities?
I don’t know much about her, but I still think she and Jindal need to serve a few years as governors before they jump to a national ticket.
Please- No one is paying me
After looking through your posting history for the past several days, I apologize for calling you a Romney flack. That was uncalled for since you don’t appear to be aware of the ongoing Romneybots’ efforts to divert attention away from his liberalism by raising the mormon issue. You may do with that apology what you will, it’s genuine.
McCain is losing right now. Putting in a divisive liberal with a penchant for lying as his running mate will make doubly certain that the Conservative base will NOT turn out for him. “I’m not Obama” isn’t enough for him to win. It wasn’t enough for Dole in ‘96 running against Bubba. You have to motivate the base and he isn’t doing it.
“Who will you support once he stops paying you ?”
-
Who will you bash, once Obama’s checks bounce?
Bash bash bash.
Complain complain complain.
Blah blah blah.
What is it, with this year?
Does Slick Willard sign your paycheck as “No one” ? You’re not on here 16+ hours a day, 7 days a week posting Slick Willard propaganda and talking points, etc. if you’re not on his payroll.
Proof ? Evidence ? Links ? Where are my “Vote Obama”/”Obama is a Conservative” posts, jackass ?
Must be an Ah-nold supporter. You guys sure love liberals, doncha ?
I’m on here less than you are.
Does this mean you’re being paid by the Huckster?
Accepted
I still contend that, as for Clinton and Gore, and even Reagan to a lesser extent, that politicians often move from a conservative or liberal state to run for national office, they of necessity change some of their previous positions to make themselves more electable. It’s not pretty or admirable, but it happens fairly often. I think that’s what Romney has done, and that he is a natural conservative. And I think he was our best candidate this year and would have been the best president.
And I do think if the south and evangelicals saw more of him, more would realize their common values, except for some unknown number who would be put off by the theological differences.
Excellent post
Who’s Arnold?
Duncan Hunter Rocks.
But why are you trying to help Obama?
Didn’t Dick Morris tell use it would be Hillary ... and loved Huck???
No sale on his opinions.
You’ve been here fewer years, quite so. But 16 hours a day and 7 days a week posting liberal propaganda for Slick Willard makes you kinda suspect. ;-)
Ask the Hucksterbots of olde if I was on their payroll. I have as much use for the Southern-fried hickster from Hope as I do for Slick Willard.
