The View Co-Host Sherri Shepherd Talks About Her Numerous Abortions

Hollywood, CA (LifeNews.com) -- Sherri Shepherd, a co-host of the popular women's television program "The View," said in a recent interview that she's had numerous abortions. She says that she didn't began to change her promiscuous behavior until she became a Christian.

In the interview with Precious Times, a magazine for black Christian women, Shepherd, who is 41, said she was "sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count."

"I felt if someone killed me, it wouldn't even make a difference," she said, talking about how the abortions and other problems caused a low point in her life. "But God showed me that it would make a difference."

Shepherd upset her view co-hosts with the comments and they came up on The View at the beginning of Wednesday's program.

Shepherd says she faced significant guilt and shame about the abortions.

"I didn't know how to forgive myself and a wonderful woman at a conference told me 'Sherri, when you get to heaven all your babies are going to be there saying 'Hi Mama,'" she added.

"When I heard that I knew Jesus had forgiven me. She didn't print the whole thing and I wanted people to know that," she said. "I wasn't being flippant about abortions and I wasn't glamorizing them."

"I would like to inspire women who go through a lot of shame and guilt about having an abortion that I, too, went through it myself," Shepherd said.

She said her faith helped her get through a rough breakup and divorce from Jeff Tarpley, whom she says cheated on her and got another woman pregnant.

The former 'Less Than Perfect' star, who recently did a hosting stint at the "Daytime Emmy Awards," talked about how she struggles sharing her faith with the pro-abortion co-hosts on "The View."

"Oh sometimes I say, 'Lord, Juanita Bynum or Joyce Myers would be so good at this table. They could lay hands on Barbara Walters and get her saved,'" she told the magazine. "I ask the Lord, 'Why am I here?' I have to trust God when He says, 'Because I said so.'"

Other hosts on "The View" have come under fire before.

Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar praised Jack Kevorkian in March for killing more than 130 people in assisted suicides and murdering a disabled patient.

Goldberg said she’s a "big fan" of Kevorkian "because he believed that he could help people who were in, in a place where no one was helping them."

"Euthanasia, like race, is one of those things nobody wants to talk about. It makes people very uncomfortable. I think euthanasia is, is an important thing and it should be there for people to make that decision if they chose to," she said.

Goldberg did not mention her belief about involuntary euthanasia, where patients are frequently killed by family members or medical staff without their knowledge or consent.

Joy Behar wondered: "Why is he a bad guy? I don't understand it...it’s over my head somewhere."

Her presence on "The View" gives her the opportunity to share her conversion and faith will millions of women.

Sorry. ‘The View’ is a vacuous mind waster. Most of the hostesses are about as interesting as watching paint peel. Glad to hear Ms.Shepherd has been saved. Other than that she’s just another Lib with a soapbox.

A breath of fresh air....hope is born. Someone faces reality and doesn’t lie to themselves and goes against popular opinion. More power to her.

#1 = ‘Sherri, when you get to heaven all your babies are going to be there saying ... ??

1. True, or not?
2. The message / false confidence that this may give women / girls who are making decisions. And anyone, who may be giving advice or pressuring someone; or deciding public policy... Like, whatever you do, don’t worry, be happy, it will all work out in the end... like it’s not important what you decide... ** When the reality is, It is a life & death decision and it Does matter - Choose Life!

It's nice, but it could also be used to encourage abortion. I've heard several young women say it was okay to have an abortion because the baby would be in heaven anyway.

Is that what having sex with Ted Danson is called?

Goldberg said she’s a "big fan" of Kevorkian "because he believed that he could help people who were in, in a place where no one was helping them."

It just occurred to me, but can't the same reasoning be used to euthanize poor people, indigents, homeless, welfare cases, orphans, etc?
