The official version of the story requires the reader to believe that somebody operating a death camp

Trnopolje, as filmed by ITN, was not claimed to be a "death camp" by ITN. It was a detention camp where thousands of people were being held against their will without sufficient food or shelter and without being charged with any crime.

The administrators of Trnopolje invited the camera crew to videotape certain portions of the facility to demonstrate that no executions were taking place at the camp, that the people at the camp were not being ill-treated, etc. One ITN cameraman surreptitiously filmed footage that the administrators did not want them to film and ITN put it on the news.

I would point out that the camp administrators - being former Communist apparatchiks under the Yugoslavian regime - did not realize in the early 1990s that the kind of interment situation that Communists thought of as generous and commodious would be considered horrific by American, British, French and Italian TV viewers. They probably believed that the conditions were OK and nothing to be ashamed of.

As soon as the media firestorm following ITN's footage began, the camp was closed down and its inmates relocated.

The magazine Living Marxism later claimed in an article that ITN had invented the whole thing and staged the footage - and they were successfully sued for libel by ITN. All Trnopolje skeptic sites, no matter how they identify themselves ideologically, rely upon the original, libelous Living Marxism article for their arguments and claims.

What was going on a Trnopolje was illegal, immoral and horrible. It cannot be justified.

As far as anybody can tell, Trnopolje was a refuge hostel of some sort and the only barbed wire anywhere close to it was to protect the little toolshed from the usual muslim thievery. Penny Marshall and her crew somehow got the key to the little enclosure, walked into it, called people over and rolled cameras producing the flagrant fiction that the people were inside the barbed wire and the camera crew on the outside.

Joeseph Goebbels would not have had the chutzvah to pull such a thing off, that would have been too big a lie even for Goebbels and Hitler.

Other than that, truth is not a defense in English libel suits.

Since you pretend to know your stuff, why you do not say the whole of the truth and nothing but the truth?

It is true that ITN sued successfully, but what was the verdict? Why you ommit it? Let me guess. It shatters your garbage to piecess. Ms. Penny Marshhall of ITN successfully sued LM for libel. Verdict was that LM HURT HER FEELINGS, not that LM lied and printed untruth.

LM was telling the truth and this truth hurt the feelings of Penny Marshall. In other words, the fact that ITN lied was proven in English court.

English libel laws are notorious for alowing lies triumph in court.

Penny Marschall vs. LM is a travesty of justice the same way Liberace case was.
