According to Politico’s Carrie Budoff Brown, who is accompanying Obama on his trip to the Middle East and Europe, Obama’s campaign sent out a “dress code” that especially targeted female reporters as to the appropriate attire while traveling in Israel and Jordan.Obama press told to cover up, not wear green. No green. That is the color of Hamas. Also no nail polish, a limited amount of jewelry, covered shoulders and arms, closed-toed shoes, and stockings for women. (Do they make stockings anymore?) Women must also be prepared to cover their heads.

Not just a good custom, but generally a good idea if you want to make yourself a less likely target for criminals. Tourists tend to be a prime target for criminals like pickpockets. Dressing to blend in with the locals, as much as possible, makes you less of a target.
American tourists are bad at this- a family group of Americans in Paris dressed in shorts, sneakers and t-shirts and carrying all of their valuables in fanny packs stand out like a sore thumb to any criminal interested in relieving them of their valuables.
I will be 70 this election year.
During those years, I have seen some very scary rat presidential candidates and presidents, (Carter and Clintoon).
However, none of them scare me as much as Obama does.

I can’t grasp that the Lord really cares what one wears to church. That is one of the many reasons I do not attend religious services as for many people it has become a weekly fashion show for themselves and their children!!!

I collect Hermes scarves (not to wear as a babushka or hijab!) but as a normal American would, as decoration. Anyway, Hermes titles all of their scarves and the title for the one she is wearing is, "A walk in the park". I find this slightly ironic as this woman is unbelievably dumb and inexperienced (as evidenced by her mistakes and your interesting quote from the Reform Party of Syria). Her gaffes are serious and inexcusable and to her it's just a walk in the park.

I guess you don't remember the big brouhaha here over the requirement that a female Lt. Col. Warthog driver and commander, wear the Muslim abaya, not drive, go nowhere unescorted by a male (her deputy in some cases) in Saudi Arabia? Here's the story about CentCom removing the requirement after Lt. Col. Martha McSally filed suite.
Many here supported the rule, or at least insisted that she should shut up and obey it. According the story above, at that point female military personnel were *still* not allowed to drive off of their bases, even on official business.
They do not respect ours and never will so who cares if we respect theirs as a matter of fact....
Theirs does not deserve respect. It amounts to slavery for women and for the west to sit back and cow tow to it leaves our freedoms in question further down in history. So no, western women who are not muslim should not cover their heads or bow to any other islamic custom that reduces them lower than the men they are traveling with, we either believe in equality in the West or we don't (I guess Obama's roots are showing).
It is to bad there are no real western men left that truly understand that freedoms are for both sexes in that group, but hey they are dems and using their brains...not their strong suit.
Some things do not deserve respect, islamic slavery of women is way up there on the list!
Frankly - screw them and their “values and traditions”.
You don’t travel much, do you?
When you travel to another country, even a theocracy, you respect their traditions, including their dress code.
If you can’t do that, don’t go.
Simple as that.
And, yes, I do expect them to respect our traditions.
Most do, some don’t.
But being an asshole visitor in a foreign country will only get you into trouble.
