Are any of the hotel's restaurants open at 2:40 AM? Somehow, I doubt it.

Hmmm ... this is L.A. Not unusual for restaurants to be open especially in a hotel. But, I’m with you. I’m just trying to rule out legitimate reasons to be there.

I hope they took photos.
