I wonder if this reminds them of the Hitler rallies. Admittedly a lot of them weren’t born, but given how hugely it is part of their history, I don’t doubt that many of them might be creeped out if not outright alarmed at the direction Obama’s campaign is taking.
Why do you assume that it will received negatively by mainstream Germans? Most are not Hitler-fans... true. That’s not what I am suggesting. But the vast majority are historical blind, either through lack of interest or on purpose. They just love to paint Bush, the US and Israel as the new “Nazis, militarists and aggressors”. They are sympathetic to anything that will harm us, because to them WE are the evil side. And they have a streak within them (since centuries) that makes them obedient to authority, the state and socialism. That’s something that hasn’t change a little in Germany. They look to the almighty authority of the government to help, protect and sustain them from cradle to grave. From Right to Left. Thus they are enamored by statists by whatever name they come. Obama is highly attractive to them, (although they probably would never vote for a colored/ethnic minority man in their own country.)
