Boxer Unwilling to Compromise on ANWR Drilling
businessandmedia.org ^ | July 21, 2008 | Jeff Poor

Even if you offer Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., what she’s been pushing for – taxpayer investments in “green” or renewable energy – she’s not going to budge in her opposition to opening federal lands to oil and natural gas exploration. Talk about willingness to compromise.

MSNBC “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough asked Boxer July 21 about a hypothetical compromise with Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, in which Hutchison would agree to investment in “renewable energies like wind and solar, and, and have the federal government get involved in a new type of Manhattan Project,” if Boxer would agree to opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) to drilling.

“I don’t think that you throw the Alaskan [Arctic] National Wildlife [Refuge] into oil drilling,” Boxer said. “You don’t need to do it. If you look at what’s in there, it would keep us going for six months when you can do so much more. I mean, with the acreage that is already in the oil companies’ hands. So, I think there are certain American values and you don’t throw them away for something that is so obviously necessary.”’

She paraded her tail feathers about her so-called tri-partisan Boxer-Lieberman-Warner global warming hoax bill. I guess that type of compromise only works when it suits her agenda.

I realize this is a rhetorical question, but what exactly do the Democrats EVER compromise on?

I’m ashamed that this thing is my senator... I’m sorry America but California just has too many liberals. Forgive us.

Why doesn't someone refute this nonsense. 10 billion barrels are not going to be used up in 6 months.

The Dems think blocking drilling wins for them. Until they’re convinced they’ll lose seats, they won’t budge.

Republicans define compromising with Democrats as "giving them everything they want."

Why is no one asking the real question ie if the site was set aside for drilling as a stupid compromise to lock up millions of acres for some wildlife refuge that it is now unacceptable?

In a sane world, Barbara Boxer would have risen no further in life than assistant manager at a discount brassiere shop in Queens.

Gee, I read somewhere over the weekend that California uses more gaoline than China. Could that possibly be true?

But back to Boxer and her other “9%ers” who are in that elite club of being a member of the 110th congress that have 91% of We the Peoples (us taxpayers) disapproving of what they’re doing.

What the 9%ers fail to comprehend is that other countries are going to be drilling off the coast of their beloved California and these other countries don’t have to get permission from anybody.

Nothing. That's for us to do.

Look its real simple. These socialists can not allow drilling to happen. Now or ever. Drilling would prove that they were lying to American citizens for the past 30 years and that they are the reason we are paying such high cost for gasoline.

You’re right, Boxer, we can do so much more and we must. We should drill in ANWR and everywhere else that shows potential for crude production. It’s actually kind of silly to talk about ANWR so much as an individual thing. It has to be just one part of a massive drilling program, plus ASAP development of viable alternative energy sources (and I really think we need to end these biofuel from food crop programs).
