McCain really needs an agressive runningmate.

Ain't that the truth in a nutshell? But everyone I can think of who has the stones for the job has other problems.

  1. Dick Cheney -- too closely tied to Bush.
  2. Rudi -- too liberal and won't even put New York into play.
  3. Mitt -- loud and relentless opposition from the "We hate Mormons" moonbat wing. On the other hand, the inevitable noise from this crowd might just take the focus off Obama's race and the centerpiece of his campaign.
  4. Mark Sanford -- would be great, but he's too smart to sign on with Capt. McQueeg. If McCain has to complete for the south, he's toast anyway.
  5. Bobby Jindal -- hasn't even finished his first term as governor.
  6. Sarah Palin -- beautiful, but same problem as Jindal.
  7. Tim Pawlenty-- used to like him until it became clear he drinks the gorebal warming Kool-Aid. Therefore, no stones for negative campaigning.
  8. Huckabee-- what new voters will an idealogical twin who is half as bright bring to the ticket?
  9. Santorum & Steele-- great Catholic appeal, but they both lost elections in 2006. Santorum also lost big against an empty suit.
  10. Duncan Hunter or Tom Tancredo, great former opponents, but couldn't even get on the radar screen in the primaries.
  11. Fred Thompson-- love him, but what's another grouchy old white guy going to add to the ticket?
  12. Charlie Crist-- If McCain thinks he needs him to win Florida, he's toast. Besides, Sarah Palin is more of a man than him.
  13. Joe Lieberman-- great on the war, but awful on just about everything else. See Huckabee.
  14. Kasich or Potter-- both former congressmen from Ohio, a key state, but both with limited appeal even in that state.

    Have I left anybody out?

You left out Senator Light Loafers from South Carolina, Lindsay Graham, the number one McCain suck-up.

How are the Donks going to attack Palin as having little experience with Mr. Thin Resume at the top of their ticket?

Vman -

That is a pretty comprehensive breakdown - thanks.

I personally think Kasich would be a very strong pick, but why he would want to join the sinking ship known as the SS McQueeg is another question entirely.

What Palin has going for her is that she sat on an Alaska oil commission and can make the case, like nobody else under consideration and in a way that lets McCain "flip-flop" on the issue, for drilling in ANWR. And I think she could really help McCain with the social gun and abortion conservatives since she's strong on both of them, too. And like McCain, she has a son in the military so she could shut up all those "mothers wouldn't send their children to war" ninnies constantly asking why Bush didn't send his daughters to Iraq. I think all of that's a far greater plus than her experience is a minus. And if they attack her on experience, she could go on the attack against Obama directly, in a way that McCain couldn't.
