Candidate-related art taking off
July 20, 2008Recommend
BY CHRISTINA S.N. LEWIS
Last week's New Yorker magazine cover, an illustration depicting Sen. Barack Obama and his wife as fist-bumping terrorists, has been all over the news. But that isn't the only Obama-related artwork attracting attention these days.
Collectors, investors and fund-raisers -- many of them looking to cash in on the candidate's popularity and place in history -- are snapping up campaign posters and other works depicting Obama.

I like those. That’s positive but...hope they don’t cost a small fortune. Anything Obama will be worth something in the future because he is the first black man to not only run for the highest office in the land but to secure the nomination. If hillllereee had won all her things would have been worth something too because of her being the first woman nominee. It’s only natural.

I thought the Obama Sock Monkey was the best novelty item of the year, but we aren’t even allowed to show the picture.

Leave it to the Chicago Sun Times to produce this kind of bias.

Reminds me of the Che Guevara t-shirts.
I always appreciated those shirts because it let me know instantaneously whether I'm dealing with a moron or not.
This art will achieve the same effect.

Yes, things like this tend to undermine his credibility.

I think it would be appropriate to paing an image of obama on a felt painting dressed as Elvis.

I walked into a customer's a week ago and the lady I spoke with had this poster in her cubicle:

She was a white woman, appx. 60 years old, looked like an average Granny. The dark comedy behind this poster I'm sure is lost on its earnest creators, not to mention anyone who buys it. Mexico is such a bastion of freedom and democracy!

Well for all intents and purposes he has. If it changes so be it but...anything Obama will be valuable.
