Romney moves up as Potential McCain VP
NPR ^ | July 20 | Ron Elving

Posted on 07/20/2008 9:07:44 AM PDT by ConservativeMan55

Once upon a time, people who wanted to be president were not expected to admit it in public. This mask of false indifference had to be dropped when the rise of primaries forced candidates to campaign actively for the office.

The Mitt haters hate him because he is Mormon. They know nothing about Mormons or their religion. They are just so ignorant that they have to depend on their Baptist preachers to tell them who to vote for, or in this case who to oppose.

Some suggestions. Conservatives with a REAL conservative record.

Mike Pence

Rob Portman

Chris Cox

John Thune

Mark Rasciot

Some are more well know than others. But that won't matter for the VP slot. As long as its a real conservative, the right can get excited.

The last thing we need on the ticket is a guy who said the only difference between his health care plan and Hillary's is that his became law. That fool was Romney.

I just hope their hatred and stupidity does not put Obama in the White House.

I pray we will be able to overcome their attacks against such a fine person as Mitt.

It would bear repeating if it were true.
But it is not. Romney and his revisionist supporters hate the truth.

Romney spit on, and overturned, the Mass Constitution
which states"The power of suspending the laws,
or (suspending) the execution of the laws,
ought never to be exercised but by the legislature..."
and it was ignored by Gov. Romney who issued an Order to the Justices of the Peace
that they must perform same-sex marriages when requested
or 'face personal liability' or be fired
".

The above proves that Romney, the DNC's chosen Liberal, is personally responsible.

I don’t hate Mitt, and though I am no LDS fan, I don’t care if he is a Mormon, I just won’t sit back and let the cheerleaders paint the man as something he isn’t, something they do endlessly.

So where do I fit in in your grand (and inaccurate) generalizing scheme?

I’m with you. I’m pro-life, and I can make the argument why everybody should be very well. On the occasions that it is brought up, I choose to approach it from the constitutional perspective (states rights, keep your federal laws off my body, if you’re making federal laws about abortion, what might be next - down with state taxes, state marriage laws, state business laws? .....). But I have no trouble whatsoever going at it from a logic perspective (nobody can answer when a foetus becomes a baby, then trace back to embryoes on down) or the moral perspective either.

Having said all that, we pride ourselves on being a nation of the rule of law. If there is a law, we must uphold it until such time as when that law is overturned. My wish is that some Governor challenge Roe v. Wade on the states-rights perspective. If it goes down, I will applaud with everyone else and look forward to states passing their own laws. We know so much more now about embryonic and fetal development than we ever did before. The same also goes for contraception. Only stupid women get pregnant against their will (yes, please flame away). So, although I’m generally schmaltz-sensitive, on this, I completely support your position. The best way to change this murderous outrage is to change people’s hearts. We’re not in the ‘60s. We expect everything to have come a long way. It has. There are better pills, barrier methods. I see an ad. for Mirena all the time. They don’t even refer to it as an intra-uterine device, but as an IUC. Women were using abortion as a birth control method. We can’t have this archaic law still in place when the sciences of photography and birth control have come so far in 40+ years.

You said it very well. Liberals pass laws to force people into certain behaviors under threat of incarceration. I understand Romney upholding the law and opposing abortion - as I do.

Cultivating religious bigotry, in order to play a victim card for political gain, is despicable.

I'd say that you should be ashamed, but my experience is that Romney supporters are shameless.

To whatever extent I "hate" Mitt Romney, it is because he is a lying liberal of the highest degree.

You’re living under the delusion that if McCain picks Romney, conservatives will vote for that ticket in droves. Not gonna happen.

If McCain picks the liberal Romney, he’ll be signing his own death warrant.

Romney’s conservative rhetoric during the GOP primary season didn’t impress most of us on the right. Didn’t impress you either. After all, you supported Ron Paul. McCain needs to pick a solid conservative and stay away from moderates, liberals and wackos too.

Less Liberal states selected someone else, usually Huckabee, as the first choice among Conservative voters.

Says you. Says the exit polls, in three additional disparate competitive states, all less liberal than California, Romney was the choice of the very conservatives. Same would be true in Nevada as well. Even in SC, Romney's support was greater the more conservative the voters.

Hundreds of thousands of ballot wielding very conservative GOP Primary voters >>> Ill-informed FR Romney-loathing cranks.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic The fact that you had to use the exit poll from California might be a clue to what many think of Romney.

The fact that you point out erroneously that I had to use an exit poll from California, might be a clue that you don't know what you're talking about.

I have answered that one for you before.

Is there some sort of Alzheimer's or amnesia that effects Team Mitt members. There must be, it is the only thing that explains having to repeat things to them over and over and over again...
