You need to take a stand and tell someone their policies are wrong, and won't support them... Do you REALLY think the GOP has the backbone to stop any of H's programs once he's President? Really???

In a word, "Yes." Republican officials will support leftist programs proposed by any President with an R after his name. (They did it for almost 8 years.) The same programs proposed by a democrat President, they'll know to oppose.

As someone else on this thread wisely asked... You followed your advice in ‘06... How did that work out?

Was that posted to me or did you also need to ping your rah-rah team to back you up? None of those charges apply to me. Vote for whoever you want. I’ve never told anyone who to vote for. This is not about support the GOP or die. But support the GOP or suffer Obama. Otherwise stop projecting what other FReepers may say, because I am me - not anyone else. And I speak for me.

Specifically, the Admin Moderator said to conduct this forum in a respectful manner. Seeing that it is YOU who called me stupid and YOU who told me to go to hell (metaphorically speaking) then it is YOU who have the problem.

It shocks me that folks like you are content to sit at home and let H just walk on by to become the POTUS, all to prove a point... I just don’t get it... never will.

A lot of GOP'ers lost their jobs in 2006... and I feel certain the further they move to the center, the more of them that will be out of a job. Center GOP's do not motivate the conservative public.

Other than it's a fact. It's a complex situation, and you can't think tactically to solve it.

The fact that you don't understand it doesn't surprise me... so many that confess to being "conservative" have no idea what that means.

You can not be a conservative if:

1)You support labor unions.

2)You believe that the government should step into any aspects of business (this includes oil, or anti-trust cases, etc).

3)You think oil companies are evil.

4)You think investors (sometimes called "speculators" by liberals) are evil.

5)You think that a few bad apples or even a gaggle of bad apples can affect the overall economic markets to a large extent.

6)You think we need public education, the HUD, or any of the arrays of government social programs.

7)You think one level of income earners should be taxed differently than another.

8)You think the government should bail out people for making stupid decisions (people that live in flood plains or say get stupid mortgages)

First, I never miss a vote. So, I'm not sitting at home.

Second, I'm not trying to prove a point. I just decided that McCain isn't sufficiently better than Obama to abandon my principles to vote for him.

Third, I didn't leave the GOP. The GOP left me. Barring McCain's getting on his hands and knees, admitting to be a perfidious piece of slime toward conservatives, lo, these twenty-five plus years, I'll be voting third party.

Fourth, we can't have two political parties, protean in their ability to keep and abandon principles at will. One, The Democrat Party, is quite sufficient. When the GOP decided to become democrat-lite, we had no more need of them. So, the best thing real conservatives can do for them is hope and pray that their death is quick and not too messy and go in search of their political successor, a party that still adheres to conservative values.

Finally, be of good cheer. The GOP had a good run, almost 150 years. The Federalists and Whigs each lasted only a few decades. What we need now is to quickly find their replacement.

While you're busy assigning blame, first give credit where credit is due: GW Bush for alienating the traditional base and Karl Rove, the political savant who swore that once The Prescription Drug Program was passed, Granny and Gramps would throw down their crutches, arise from their wheelchairs and run to the nearest polling place to vote a straight GOP ticket.

While military historians are quick to recognize that the lion's share of a campaign's failure lies with the generals, political operatives are quick to blame the common foot soldiers' equivalent, the voters, for their candidates' failure to secure an election.

Right now we're having trouble convoncing people that the GOP needs replacing!...much less get them motivated to ACTIVELY find that replacement. The timing of this election cycle and the sequence of events have made it the perfect storm.

I agree with you that the GOP had a good run. But it's over now.

IMO if you get coerced into voting for McCain you’ll get coerced into supporting every crappy initiative that he has as well as all the crap that he will tacitly support or fail to oppose.

All in the name of bipartisan cooperation.

perhaps the reason youre not getting it is because you wont quit shrieking long enough to listen...

its not about proving a point, its more about living in truth to what you know is right...and for many people, juannie aint got enough character to vote FOR...

I could give a rats ass about a condescending/pandering mccain or the rin-o-p...

when he and they said they didnt need me, I took them seriously and will support only candidates who will REPRESENT my moral/Constitutional values...if that 'helps-causes' a commies libtard to be elected so be it...our system has contingency plans built in by the Founder, and I actually have faith in His Word...

unlike some backstabbing whores on tv... LFOD...

You could be correct. The GOP may be on it's last leg.

And motivation is a huge part of it. I don't see a third party emerging in a strong manner between now and November. Maybe this will be the time for a new party to emerge...in the next couple of years if like minded people can join together.

But I also can't see this country withstanding possibly 8 years of Obama and another possible 8 years of his potential VEEP choice. The damage will be irreversible, IMO.

I don’t consider people who vote for conservatives who can’t win, principled. I consider them stupid.
