Yeah, I was thinking that too. Knowledge of natural seeps is nothing new. native americans and other historical peoples have long been going to various beaches where this phenomena occur and using said tarballs to seal their boats to make them float better.
But I can’t get over that. A university........ in california........ actually put those words together.
