Our Founders wrote the Constitution based on Natural Law, just like Catholicism, or the Pope in Rome.

The human status of the child before birth is based on the relevant genetic and embryological facts, not on the say-so of the Pope in Rome. If the Pope acknowledges those facts, and applies to them the common ethic which is the basis for our U.S. philosophy of civil law ("endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights..." "Equal justice under law" "Equal protection" "Due process" and so forth) he is not to be accused of meddling, but only of teaching in an ethically consistent manner.

The Constitution was written to secure rights "for ourselves and our posterity," which means, our offspring not yet born. It took an Amendment to extend legal recognition to the human status of African ex-slaves. Our own children's human status may require another.
