The problem is that they like to say they practice ‘software engineering’ methodology, but in reality it’s ‘slap it together’, ‘yeah I tested it, it works fine’, ‘just get it done, don’t worry about documentation’, ‘the support team can fix anything later’.
And partnering with Indian companies across the globe can wipe out any savings because often they communicate very poorly and you can’t get them to understand what you need it to do.
Engineers who want to do real software engineering (not six sigma overkill, just solid engineering methods), get extremely frustrated because they know good processes and testing and design all take time, and nobody wants to give them that - they all think they’re just trying to pad the schedules.
