LOL! These journalistic savants write this stuff about the demise of PIDS (Paper Information Distribution Systems - formerly called newspapers) like it is some sort of revelation. Had they been lurking here and following our Dinosaur Media DeathWatch™ threads they could have known all this two years ago.

This dire prediction was espoused at least eleven years ago by a number of alternate newspapers as they saw the widespread arrival of easy Internet access in the middle 1990's. Once broadband started to become widely available around 2003 with dramatic reduction in costs for installing cable modems and ADSL lines, the acceleration away from newspapers became even faster as the replacement for newspaper classified ads with eBay and Craigslist became even more viable.
