I would think just about everything in the kitchen cabinet is out of reach for those two. ;)

NPR does more harm than good to their cause of beating McCain in Ohio with this profile - every reader who sees that picture is going to be rolling their eyes in disgust.

Each of them weighs easily over 300.
Only in America do morbid obesity and "poverty" go hand in hand.

Hernandez received her high school diploma and has had several jobs in recent years. But now, because fewer restaurants and stores are hiring, she says she finds it hard to find a job. I would suggest community college training in a productive field of study...and possibly slimming down a bit. And yes, with the limited income they have, grants and subsidized loans would be available to them.
Stop making excuses and just go for it.

People tell Nunez her daughter could get more money in public assistance if she had a child. "A lot of people have told me, 'Why don't your daughter have a kid?'"

I'm sure I'm not the first to make this observation, but when the Soviet Union existed (much like China now) food was always becoming more scarce and hard to find and afford. After The Soviet Union failed, food became more plentiful and easier to obtain after time.
Now, we have a Congress pushing us closer and closer to Socialism, and food is getting pricier and (supposedly) harder to find.
