I've got no objection to T. Boone or anyone else making money on this but he's lobbying for a subsidy from congress for his project or he wants eminent domain declared on the landowners who want paid to put these monstrosities on their land. He's also make a killing on the canadian oil sands projects. So when people talk about the "evil" speculators driving up the price of oil Pickens could be at the top of the list.

Let's cut through the BS with T-Bone. He is after two things, the hundreds of billions of dollars in government grants to develop, as well as the monopoly to run the alternative fuel energy infrastructure.

As soon as he started talking-up natural gas as a replacement for liquid hydrocarbon fuels, my eyes glazed over. Started getting visuals of a typical distracted teenager driving around with a cylinder of highly-explosive methane strapped to the car. Not good.

There are public service announcements about wind turbine lease going on here in Texas. Problems are when the turbines fail, who pays to take them down and battery leakage.

I really haven’t paid enought attention to them to tell everyone all about them, but do remember the above.

Shame on T. Boone.

For being a party to the Canadian shale oil project.
And sending American dollars to Canada.

And not to our real friends (and probably T. Boone's at times),
the Wahhabists in Saudi Arabia.
And all their fellow-travelers killing/beheading US Military personnel
in Iraq, Afghanistan and the other tourist spots of the Islamic world.

The thought that T. Boone is making a profit on his Canadian oil
shale deal is outrageous.
The nerve of the guy!
It's amazing T. Boone wasn't included in the song "Blame Canada".

“we have the man of the hour with us”

Says who? We are about to be screwed again by the liberals and the news media. The National Journal is cooperating fully with Pickens’ plan. There is no news in the National Journal.

Pickens: Well you know, I think I was the one that came up with that idea that you should have a czar and I told President [George] Bush two months ago, I said there should be an energy czar and I said the czar should report to the president one time a year. I said the rest of the time they give him the tools to get the job done and tell him to go do it.

Q: And what did he say?

Pickens: He listened, he asked some questions, and he said who do you think would be a person for that and I said that I think George Patton would be good.

Read Jonah Goldberg's Liberal Fascism.

The headline you posted is not the original from the article, which is: “Q&A: T. Boone Pickens
Oil Tycoon Sounds Off On Energy Independence”.

Furthermore, Pickens did not state that he is “for Al Gore Energy Czar” in the body of the article either.

I haven't been through the panhandle in years, but when did go though, it looked like the dust bowl days of the 1930's. Not much to see there, so it's a good place for windmills, but that's not the case everywhere. And, why aren't the Greenies worried about wiping out the bird population?

I wonder how many windmills it takes to replace one pebble bed nuke plant? It's safe, put it a few miles off the main drag, over a ridge, and nobody would even know it was there.

In one sentence...you say you don't have an objection to Pickens making money.

In another you exclaim that Pickens is "making a killing". That doesn't square up.

But on the other hand...I agree with you in his wind stance. And he's also claiming in a radio commercial here in OK...that we can't "drill our way out". That comes across very self-serving to me...and I think it's Bovine Scatology.

All that said.....Pickens has given away millions and millions...and no doubt will give away more after he's dead and gone. I think he's a decent guy...but the wind deal has got me puzzled.

I thought T. Boone was too busy coaching the Oklahoma State Cowboys to spend time worrying about wind power.

You know, you have really changed the world with your conversation
about wind energy, PickensPack.com...

Hmmm...maybe that's a valid website in Canada.

But all I've heard about is pickensplan.com.

Maybe The National Post has skimped on fact-checking.

If the posted transcript is accurate, too bad T. Boone didn't
correct the host.

And the host could have done some real interviewing.
And ask T. Boone about The Wall Street Journal article of Thursday
July 17, 2008.
The front-page article that also took up a fair chunk of the
last page of Section A.
About the huge jump in prices paid for electrical power.
In de-regulated Texas.

T. Boone should cut a deal with the state of Texas...and tell
them to build a better transmission system, while he'll put up
the wind turbines and sell at a better cost than Texas is experiencing
this summer.

“I’ve got no objection to T. Boone or anyone else making money “
True, but without the almost $5 billion that the PUCT is assuring him, from the pockets of Texans, he would not make a dime.

8% of the Wind Capacity is generating in the summer time across peak.

T. Boone learned his lesson well from Jerry Jones, let the tax payers ensure your profit by building a stadium.
