In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former Vice President’s home energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research… In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month… After the Tennessee Center for Policy Research exposed Gore’s massive home energy use [in February 2007], the former Vice President scurried to make his home more energy-efficient. Despite adding solar panels, installing a geothermal system, replacing existing light bulbs with more efficient models, and overhauling the home’s windows and ductwork, Gore now consumes more electricity than before the “green” overhaul. Since taking steps to make his home more environmentally-friendly last June, Gore devours an average of 17,768 kWh per month – 1,638 kWh more energy per month than before the renovations – at a cost of $16,533. By comparison, the average American household consumes 11,040 kWh in an entire year, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Those “enough to power 232 average American households for a month” numbers aren’t exactly correct. But it is over 200.

Typical Limousine Liberal. Having said that, there's this:

In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month…

In all fairness, shouldn't this factoid be reported as "enough to power 19 average American households for a year.", or something like that..

but obviously he’s had enough time to figure some other stunt for people to pay more. I bet it would work so well he could actually double the cost of his home energy use.

In the summer and winter I average about 350-375 kWh a month (I'm heated and cooled by electricity) and in the spring and fall it's closer to 300/month.I think that this might mean that my "carbon footprint" might be a tad smaller than that of Mr Environment himself.

Survey:

In Houston, with TXU Energy I'm paying 13.67 per kWh, excluding taxes and non-recurging charges.

2-story home, 2 A/C units, no pool - 2453 kWh for June

Carbon credit fraud is expensive. Running a bank of these babies 24/7 consumes massive volts.

What is going on in that house?

Judging from his behavior and thought process, I would guess that he's running a large bank of grow lights for his hydroponic marijuana farm up in the attic.
