Did presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign plant a fake story accusing itself of campaign finance irregularities, in order to portray itself as victims of right-wing allegations about the campaign’s successful Internet fund-raising?
In a July 8 2008-article "Bogus Dowd Column spreads quickly" PolitiFact, a project of the St. Petersburg Times and Congressional Quarterly, reported that blogs and chain e-mails were spreading a Maureen Dowd New York Times column that claims the Obama campaign got suspicious contributions from Iran, Saudi Arabia and China. "But the column is a fake," reports PolitiFact. The New York Times also disowned the Dowd column as a fake.

I read the townhall.com article on its site and then the comments posted there. The comments are a bunch of liberal attack nuts ranting. I am so glad here on FR the comments are intelligent, insightful, on point and not a string of personal attacks.
Folks, if you value our island of sanity here on FR, please make a modest donation to the FR fund raising. Believe me, we will need a place to vent and seek comfort before and after the 11/08 election.

I remember it clearly- and this is as plausible an explanation as any other.
The guy has accomplished something I thought was impossible- making Hillary look sane.

We KNEW what Kerry had to hide. The boatloads of witnesses were right there in the Swift Boat Veterans.
Grasping for straws that Obama's father had the bright idea that he would take Obama's mother back to Kenya to give birth there so that Barack's mother would find out that she was actually Mistress 5.0, or Polygamous Wife 2.0 at best, instead of Wife 1.0 is a very flimsy hook to hang your hat on.
If all you can come up with for not getting a candidate elected is a technicality of birth (that could be easily disproved if your guess is wrong) you are diverting time and resources from educating the public why Obama would be a disaster for America even if his was born in a log cabin on the White House lawn.
In your spare time, rent (or re-rent) "Primary Colors". There may be some de ja vu coming Barry's way from the Hillary campaign. Pay particular attention to the opponent who was successfully accused of cocaine use and gay affairs. This is how the Klinton RICO Machine works, and history, in my opinion, will probably repeat itself - this time to Hillary's benefit.
Thanks Dave. I was gone last evening. When I got home I read that column attributed to Dowd [was amazed that ‘she’ would write that, and pinged people to it. MeekOneGop wrote back soon saying he could not find it in her list of columns and questioned that she had written it.
He said he sent her an email asking about it but doubted he’d hear from her. I have not checked pings from Meek yet.

I saw Dowd in the title and always click to see CZJ pics when Dowd is in the title.
My comment was extemporaneous (c: happening suddenly and often unexpectedly and usually without clearly known causes or relationships)...(had to look up that word)...and only meant to acknowledge your always fine and often indistinguishable work.
