No doubt Obama would swiftly reverse this if elected....

Because of the announcement oil prices will go down...so that by January, Obama can claim the drilling is no longer needed. ;)

I think that the sentence that you emphasised in bold refers to proposed offshore drilling. Note the statment a couple of sentences down.

...the US Department of the Interior, said the Alaskan land that will now be offered requires no other approvals and will be up for leasing in the autumn.

They better get the rigs up and start drilling off shore before Cuba sells our oil to China.

From what I can gather, this area does NOT require Congressional approval. In the article, they state that the OCS “still requires Congress to lift a separate ban...”

Is that 3.9 Million, or 3.9 milli acres? Little “M” usually means milli, as in 1/1000.

Yes, the Congress still needs to lift the ban FOR THE OCS! Not for Alaska. Thank you for pursuing this Gov. Palin!!

Hey, I am just happy that this is happening and hope that it is just the first step. More oil production will also help our trade balance.

Give it time.

You know how it works.
Oil goes up, prices at the pump go up the next day.
Oil goes down, prices go down the weeks later.

Capitalism is like my wife....
She ain't perfect......
But she is the best.
