Romney Makes His VP Case

Posted by Michael Scherer | Comments (41) | Permalink | Trackbacks (0) | Email This

On Monday night, at a fund-raiser in New Mexico, John McCain said this about his former mortal enemy, Mitt Romney: “I’m appreciative every time I see Mitt on television on my behalf. He does a better job for me than he did for himself as a matter of fact.” This may not have been a joke.

Yesterday, Romney sat down for an interview with CBS News. It is a striking interview, in part because Romney seems to be making the McCain argument better than McCain, or McCain's campaign. There is a clarity to the soundbites that McCain has mostly lacked, a clear line of attack against Obama's experience and McCain's plans. Add to that whatever fundraising burst Romney could provide as a VP candidate, as well as Romney's strength in key swing states like Michigan and Nevada, and it's not hard to see why McCain may end up with a running mate whose hand he didn't shake in the primaries.

[See video at link]

EXCEPT: Mitt says in the interview that McCain distinguishes himself from Obama on drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. This is wrong, according to the latest McCain statements. Both McCain and Obama oppose drilling in ANWR.

He’s just making things up.

The Romney haters don’t have facts to stand behind.

So they throw out hypothesis after hypothesis and then they speculate.

"Romney did a great job on The Live Desk today. They asked him a series of tough and quick questions."

He did a crap job on Beacon Hill, bud. Who cares if Slick Willard gives good tv, he gives BAD governing. Liberal 2 da bone.

"He explained where John McCain stood on the economy and where he stood."

Just not where he stood 5 minutes before or where he'll stand 5 minutes after. Kinda like he was never for Reagan-Bush.

"He also talked about drilling in Alaska."

Well, he needs that oil so he can comb his hair with.

Proof ? Evidence ? Show some proof Slick Willard was a successful Governor and party leader. Start by listing all the Republicans he helped elect in Massachusetts. Put up or shut up, punk.

Here are some Romney supporters: Ann Coulter, Rich Lowry, and Robert Bork just to name a few. I trust their judgment more than the knee jerk haters of Romney on this forum.

I understand your anger with the court's decision, FRiend. I share that anger. However, it is misplaced against Romney on this matter.

I suggest you read the court's decision here: http://masscases.com/cases/sjc/440/440mass309.html

Three justices issued separate dissenting opinions disagreeing with the majority's activist decision. However, none of them dispute the majority's authority to render its decision or dispute that it is binding and enforceable. The executive cannot simply choose to disregard any court decisions with which it disagrees.

FRegards

"pick Mark Sanford before its too late."

You mean stuttering Sanford?

Watch as Sanford can't even speak.. while Romney answers with ease.
Romney answers exact same question. Click on video on page.

Stuttering Sanford answers question on the economy. Scary!

“I believe facts, not fraud, kid. You need to grow up and smell the manure Slick Willard is spreading. I've known him 14 years, and he's one of the biggest con-artists around. If you actually SINCERLY believe his schtick, you're incredibly naive. Why don't you read the words above spoken by Jim Robinson. Or do you think he's “full of it” ?

Little one, I see you are a snake oil supporter - the Huckster. You might want to change your company as well. Perhaps being around someone like Mitt would help you. Perhaps YOU should READ what Jim Robinson states. You are GUILTY OF IT. Talking down to people and personally attacking them is against the rules here.

“Nope, you're just a liberal in denial. You kids think you can pee on our legs and tell us it's raining. Who do you think you're kidding ? Just like those callers to the talk shows pretending to be something they're not.”

I'm more conservative than you ... and proud of it. You definitely have to be a Huck supporter ... I haven't seen such trash talk by an adult in a long time. You have a special gift for that - so typical of that group.

Perhaps the mods can get through to you on basic etiquette. YOU need a “time out”. Typically that is reserved for children ... . Perhaps a “slap on the wrist” might help you grow up sooner ?

I saw the court’s decision. The anger is not misplaced. *omney could’ve told the court what to do with their unconstitutional interpretation. He didn’t. He’s not a Conservative. Never was, never has been, never will be. I needn’t also remind you of the Maucks.

I felt bad for Sanford.. but at the same time.

If you’re gonna get out in the public eye you better be ready.

That’s cute. Berating the best Conservative GOP Governor in the country while touting the most liberal RINO speaks more about yourself than anything else. I guess it just boils your blood that Sanford has expanded Republican fortunes in South Carolina while *omney buried his state and party. I’m waiting for that list of names that your idol helped elect in his state. Where is it ?

Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Karl Rove, Laura Ingraham

All supporters of Romney...

There are more but we’re just naming a few.

What's sad, is that they post the same discredited stuff thread, after thread, after thread. No facts, no reasoned argument, just attacks. Clearly, right out of the liberal hand-book. They feel if they shout loud enough, people will believe. Problem is, this is FR & that doesn't work here.

Look at how many Romney supporters vs. the few Romney haters on this thread. They will keep on shouting, we keep reasoning. The adults vs. the kids. Facts vs. theories & disinformation. There are enemies among us. This thread once again proves this.

Sorry, only deal in facts, madam. I don’t like liberals, liars, and con men. Slick Willard is all 3.

McCain needs Romney to give his campaign a boost.

If you read the decision, you know that what you assert Romney should have done was not contained in any of the three dissenting opinions.

If you are aware of any constitutional professors or scholars who have published articles analyzing this issue and have asserted that Romney could simply have refused to comply with the court's decision, I would be interested to read them. Please provide a link.

I just don't think its wise to advocate what essentially constitutes anarchy. After all, we are a nation of laws.

Fregards
