A Barack Obama presidency may be historic, but it wouldn't end the country's contentious history of race relations, says Julian Bond, chairman of the NAACP.
"We know that Obama's electoral success, even if he should win the ultimate prize, won't signal an end to racial discrimination, but it does mark the high point of an interracial movement that dates back to the Underground Railroad," Bond said.

So it’s okay if we don’t vote for him?
Obama and his cronies have already set race relations back about 30 years. I dare anyone to try and lay some White Guilt on me.
Julian Bond, old-school race baiter speaks.
I agree with your list of racists, and allow me to translate what this guy said: “No matter what happens, we reserve the right to bitch and moan, portray ourselves as victims, and demand special treatment.”
Of course not - it’s way too good a scam to give up just because one of its adherents might luck into the top job. ;)
It may not end racism, but it will sure make the argument that all blacks are oppressed if a black man is President.
“NAACP Head Says Obama Presidency Won’t End Racism”
We’ve got to protect our phony-baloney jobs, gentlemen!!
I think that Obama being elected proves that we don’t need affirmative action any longer, if we ever did. It will be historic, and should be a big step in race relation if they let it be that giant step forward. They should say that while they have said “We Shall Overcome”, now they can say “We Have Overcome”, and celebrate, and then go home and live their lives. Groups like NAACP should say “Mission Accomplished” and then go home.
I don’t like Obama or his positions, but, must admit he’s a good political operative to have gotten to this point. He didn’t get a presidential nomination due to affirmative action preferences.
I'm not so sure about that.
The media Obamagasm, while not enforced by legislation, has been affirmative action of the worst sort, and certainly helped him to the nomination.
If you were to review the agenda of the NAACP from 50 or 60 years ago, you would see that they have achieved everything that was on their agenda at that time.
We have seen school integration, voting rights laws passed, civil rights laws passed, fair housing laws passed, affirmative action laws and regulations implemented, massive expansions of the welfare state to help those grappling with poverty, etc. etc. They have achieved what they set out to achieve in terms of equality in American society. Equality of opportunity in any field has now been achieved for everyone, and it has been that way for many years now. Exactly what more can gov’t do to make us a more color blind society?
Bond, if you don’t like the country, leave. Most of us are tired of paying the bills for all of this, while all you do is stir the pot.
A NObomba Presidency would set relations back decades after all the excuse making that will follow once The Worst Candidate in history becomes The Worst President in history.
Of course it won't.
The only thing that will end racism is to end the "pet" American subculture.
I don't see that happening any time soon.

NAACP Head Says Obama Presidency Won't End Racism
After 7,000 years the Victim Industry remains among top 500
Probably not.
If he wins, he will suddenly look "too white".
Guaranteed. Doesn't matter what he says.
As if we didn’t know the business of victimization/affirmative action was not going out of business with Obama as Pres. Jesse and Al and Julian Bond, et. al. know a cash cow when they see one.
“He didnt get a presidential nomination due to affirmative action preferences.”
I’d like to know what his LSAT scores were.
