"Russian telecom operators have drawn up plans to re-route data and call traffic to avoid Swedish eavesdropping, following the passing of Sweden's new law giving spying agency FRA increased powers to intercept communications. Russian newspaper RBK writes that Russian telecom operators see the new law "as an attempt at industrial espionage at state level, and are prepared to bypass Sweden if necessary," according to a translation in Swedish daily Svenska Dagbladet."

One cannot blame the Russians for being worried about a law that allows such draconian spying into not only messages from law-abiding people, but corporations as well.

*Industrial* espionage? Something tells me that the Swedes are far more afraid of Russia's armies than they are that Russia might soon build a better toaster oven.
And they have damn good reason to be afraid of Russia's armies.Any "glasnost" or liberalization that might have occurred in Russia in the 90's has been fully snuffed out by KGB Agent Comrade Putin and his filthy jack-booted friends.

2. Liberalisation didn't occur, that was anarchy.

They were probably surprised that a law was needed to do it, since no such law was required in Russia to do it to their law abiding citizens, lol.
