A short note started chain that ended in imams kicked off flight (Flyin' Imams!!)
PioneerPress ^ | 7/12/08 | David Hanners

Moments after boarding US Airways Flight 300 for Phoenix, Michael McCombie, a 3M sales rep from Santa Clara, Calif., jotted a note and handed it to flight attendant Terri Boatner:

"6 suspicious Arabic men on plane, spaced out in their seats. All were together, saying '... Allah ... Allah ...' cursing U.S. involvement w/Saddaam before flight. 1 in front exit row, another in first row 1st class, another in 8D, another in 22D, two in 25 E & F."

The men in question were six Muslim imams, or prayer leaders, returning home from a conference in Minneapolis. Within minutes of getting McCombie's note that November evening in 2006, the plane's captain had the men removed from the flight because of "safety concerns." Within hours, the airline reversed itself, determined that the men posed no risk, offered to book them on another flight and apologized.

Within days, though, the incident at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport had exploded into controversy. There were claims of discrimination against Muslims and calls for a boycott of the airline, while others contended the men had acted suspiciously and the airline did the right thing. The imams later sued US Airways and the Metropolitan Airports Commission, claiming they had been kicked off the flight and detained by airport police because of their religion, ethnicity and national origin.

In a federal courtroom in Minneapolis on Monday, lawyers for the imams, the airline and the airport commission will argue over an evidentiary issue that must be settled for the case to continue. Lawyers for the imams claim US Airways and the commission have wrongly withheld information in the part of the lawsuit known as discovery.

I’ll bet Michael McCombie will keep his mouth shut next time he sees something suspicious. The lawsuit has served its purpose.

Gee that would be a lucky airline to be boycotted by the Immans.

I hope that is not the case. I hope that this will serve to encourage continued vigilance.

We just came back from Minneapolis. We flew on MidWest Airlines. I was pretty nervous flying to Minneapolis. I think this incident was a test run for terrorists. I just hope people don’t get intimidated by these thugs.

“I think this incident was a test run for terrorists.”

We know it was.

“I just hope people don’t get intimidated by these thugs.”

That is their plan......

Test run for terrorists? Not likely, not with such high-profile antics on the part of the sons of the prophet.

More likely it was a provocative setup intended to get them tossed off the plane — and straight into court with a nice cash settlement in the offing.

How else could a good imam support all those wives without actually holding a job?

I don't know...but the FLDS men seem to have mastered that trick...

Would anybody mind much if Muslims boycotted flying on aeroplanes? I sure wouldn’t — I’d feel much safer.

Shouldn’t planes, trains and autos all be against the Koran?

After all they didn’t exist in Mohammed’s time, which I believe is the reasoning being used by the AQ thugs in Mosul to not allow soap in public bathhouses, among other things.

They’re loons.

On the strength of that the US should stop the issuance of all soap rations at Gitmo. After a few weeks, the AQ guys would smell mighty pungent. Maybe they prefer it like that.

You’re right, they are loons.

I'm sure that the word imam means prayer leader. Just like Sunday School Teachers. Does this author really think that anyone who reads his article has never heard the word imam, or is he just afraid that if he is misunderstood that he will find himself unemployed?

Yep. I’m 6’3”, 300+ and all I’ll do is politely lean over right next to the guy and say in a very low voice, “I’m watching you this entire flight. If you so much as even look at the cockpit of this jet, I will beat you senseless with the arm I ripped off of one of your friends. Have a nice trip.”

95% of all terrorists are Arab males between the ages of 20 and 35.

If you are an Arab male between 20 and 35, I’m watching you.

What people need to understand is that Islam is backward from Chrisianity. In Islam, the more devout they are the MORE likely they are to be radical and terroristic.
