The cover of this week's New Yorker magazine depicts Obama in one-piece Muslim garb and headdress fist-bumping his booted, Afro-wearing wife Michelle in camo clothes with a rifle and ammo-belt slung over her shoulder beneath a portrait of Osama bin-Laden while the American flag burns in the fireplace -- in the presidential Oval Office.
It's got everything incendiary except a vest bomb. Which is what should telegraph to most people that it's way over-the-top and, therefore, satire.
But politicians don't like satire because it's subject to differing interpretations.
Obama declined comment today, seeking not to elevate its importance. And his campaign issued a statement by Bill Burton which Mike Allen of Politico.com reported as, "The New Yorker may think, as one of their staff explained to us, that their cover is a satirical lampoon of the caricature Sen. Obama's right-wing critics have tried to create. But most readers will see it as tasteless and offensive. And we agree."

This is obviously going to boost sales for one issue. It will instantly become a collectors item even when nobama is sent back to the land of Lincoln with his head between his legs. I love the art work and will have it enlarged and printed for my own poster sized copies for my garage. I love it!!
Lib conspiracy theorists are already saying that the New Yorker is dominated by bitter, hard-core feminists who supported Hillary, and that they are really just pretending to adopt an ironic pose in printing this cover.
The only thing I read out of it is that the New Yorker is dissappointed conservatives haven’t been more bigoted, and so they have decided to see if they can stir up a controversy.
What everyone is missing is that while the Obama people are claiming that the depiction reflects extreme right wing misbeliefs of his political stance, the left wing and Muzzies also believe he’s an anti-American Marxist and/or Muzzie. That’s why they support him.
Well put. They're obviously trying to lampoon all us paranoid knuckle-dragging right-wingers, but the fact is, Michelle has appeared with Mrs. Louis Farrakhan, and Obama has an Islamic name and was photographed in a freakin' turban. They're are plenty of liberals who are nervous about the Obamas. I agree that Obama will be hurt by it.
I love it because it is making the little goons of Liberalland wig-out. The cover is causing a panick. It’s like sticking a stick in an ant mound. They are going nuts!

Whenever you run into a lib who says they supported Hillary, but will now vote for Obama, tell them they can write Hillary in. That many are going to do that and she has a good chance of winning. :-)

The problem is leftists are too stupid to recognize satire. The other problem is that they want to control everything.
This is going to be memorialized as one of the classic New Yorker covers of all time.
Maybe this one time, they’re not that stupid. Maybe they realize that their efforts to advance socialism in the US will fail under Obama, but flourish under McCain. Because the fact is that they’re right if they believe that.
