McCain should stop wasting time on these sheep. The vast majority of blacks in this country have swallowed the Kool-Aid.
McCain should be on TV every day bashing that commie SOB Obama on everything that Stalinist does. If Obama passes gas, McCain should be on TV calling the Obamunist a hypocrite on globull warming for releasing methane. Hit this America-Hating D-Bag and hit him hard. Don’t stop until he is a bloody pulp on the ash heap of history with his beloved Soviet Union.

There is no downside to an appearance in the camp of the opponent. Independents and undecideds may well perceive his appearance at NAACP positively even though they themselves have nothing to gain in the process. If George Bush had attended and purveyed his "compassionate conservatism" in 2000 the world of politics might be very different today.
I see no virtue whatsoever in telling a large voting bloc, "F- you, I'll win without you.

No it is a required appearance for the centerist campaign McCain is running. He will not win any votes by going, but he will not risk losing votes from his middle of the road base by not going.

“Blacks will sooner vote for the KKK than they will vote for ANY Republican. Not in this lifetime.”
In 2004, President Bush got 11% of the black vote. That was a 2 percentage point increase over the 9% of the black vote that he got in 2000. In a really close election, 11% can be the difference between winning and losing. We all remember Florida’s 2000 electoral votes and the national election being decided by less than 300 votes in that state.
I have always find it wise not to give any potential constituency group more reasons NOT to vote for you.
