The Obama campaign is condemning as “tasteless and offensive” a New Yorker magazine cover that depicts Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) in a turban, fist-bumping his gun-slinging wife.

The New Yorker says it's satire. It certainly will be candy for cable news.
The Obama campaign quickly condemned the rendering. Spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement: “The New Yorker may think, as one of their staff explained to us, that their cover is a satirical lampoon of the caricature Senator Obama's right-wing critics have tried to create. But most readers will see it as tasteless and offensive. And we agree."
The issue, which goes on sale Monday, includes a long piece by Ryan Lizza about Obama’s start in Chicago politics.
At a press availability Sunday afternoon in San Diego, Senator Obama was asked, according to a transcript by Maria Gavrilovic of CBS News: “The upcoming issue of the New Yorker, the July 21st issue, has a picture of you, depicting you and your wife on the cover.
“Have you seen it? If not, I can show it to you on my computer. It shows your wife Michelle with an Afro and an AK 47 and the two of you doing the fist bump with you in a sort of turban-type thing on top. I wondered if you’ve seen it or if you want to see it or if you have a response to it?”
Obama, shrugging incredulously: “I have no response to that.”

What? No cries of freedom of speech and freedom of expression from the left? Or, does that only apply when Condoleeza Rice is caricatured as a “house negro?”
For over three decades I have been told that I fought in Viet Nam in part to give others the right to free speech, even when offensive. I have been told to just “buck it up” when President Bush is portrayed a bumpkin or a chimpanzee.
Sorry, but for all those who condoned all the vitriol printed at Bush have no right to express outrage now at this.

Can’t be sure if they are one up or not.According to some posts it’s a positive article written with a couple negatives,,though a picture sticks with you for a while. At this point the voters that have’nt made up their minds are the ones that this could sway one way or the other.Me ,My vote is set in stone.

Obama will merely announce to the MSM the cartoon is off limits and not to be mentioned again. He is the arbiter of PC don’t you know. The MSM will obediently shut it down.

Fact is, Obama has strong ties to Islam in his youth, and has indiacted in his own books that if the winds of publ;ic opinion blow against the Muslims in this nation that he will stand with them.
He, to this day, can recite the Islamic call to prayer in fluent Arabic and calls the sound one of the most beautiful sounds on earth at sunset.
His troubles in this regard are of his own making and re a part of his makeup that he would like us to believe he is distancing himself from...but can't. They are who he is and the fact that he resorts to out and out lying about them, and getting so all fired worked up over such satire simply makes it all the worse for him.
As a result of his own willful close relationships of long standing with militant anti-Americans and his positions on the issues throughout his political career in the IL Senate and the US Senate, he is marked, and justafiably so as a militant anti-American himself and an abject marxist.
He may try to pass himself off as something quite different (and he and his campaign are straining at knats to do just that), but that is who he is.
