Classless AP Takes Cheap Shots at Just-Passed Snow Photo of Tom Blumer. By Tom Blumer (Bio | Archive) July 12, 2008 - 09:03 ET
At long last, has the Associated Press lost all sense of decency?
The wire service's story (saved here for future reference in case the wire service is embarrassed into revising it; you might consider saving it too as Exhibit A on how far over the cliff the dinosaur media has driven itself) by Douglass K. Daniel, with Jennifer Loven contributing to the story (I might have known), gets in at least three cheap, fundamentally untrue, and totally uncalled-for shots at Tony Snow, who died earlier this morning.
I won't sully NB's front page with any of them. They follow the jump:
With a quick-from-the-lip repartee, broadcaster's good looks and a relentlessly bright outlook if not always a command of the facts he became a popular figure around the country to the delight of his White House bosses.
..... During daily briefings, he challenged reporters, scolded them and questioned their motives as if he were starring in a TV show broadcast live from the West Wing.
Critics suggested that Snow was turning the traditionally informational daily briefing into a personality-driven media event short on facts and long on confrontation. He was the first press secretary, by his own accounting, to travel the country raising money for Republican candidates.
Godspeed Tony. I'm sure God will take an objective view of your life, and you'll waltz right in to be with Him for eternity.
Otherwise, words fail. How dare they?
I'll let commenters supply them.
The White House's statement is here at the Corner.

It seems the UK Telegraph thinks more highly, by a long way, of Tony Snow than our own scurlous Associated Press.

Does this surprise anyone?
The reality is the MSM is in a full out culture war against us and they enjoy spitting on Tony’s grave.
The question should be, what are you going to do about it?
Well said.
Im sure the swamplands of DU & Kos will be even more classy.
I was thinking the same thing. Im sure the hateful scum at the DU are gearing up their good riddance posts in response to Tony Snows death.

Hey, the mods here had to keep pulling the Ted Kennedy threads, remember?
There are jerks everywhere.
crAP
I suggested years ago that FR should maintain a roster of leftist media types, one that would include the author and his/her egregious articles. When you readtripe, e.g., the AP article on Tony Snow you would simply access the media roster and check the author’s history. Let me tell you, the media types hate it when they are called on their prejudices.
All of the MSM were horrified that Tony Snow dared to put David Bonior and Helen Thomas in their place. He dared to call a liar a liar from the podium. They aren't used to that.
Rush on Fox news now, talking about this.
AP really is the problem at the base of the media bias. How can we lessen their influence?
Hear, hear! The above link is my cut at analyzing why AP is the way it is - and why journalism is overrated as a result.
At the White House, he turned the daily press briefing into something of a one-man show, challenging reporters questions and delivering hard-hitting answers, even when he was occasionally short on the facts. More than once, Mr. Snow was forced to apologize, as he did shortly after taking the job, when he erroneously said that Mr. Bush viewed embryonic stem cell research as murder.
As noted in this blog, four paragraphs later, the NYT eulogy for Mr. Snow contains this line: During Mr. Bushs 2006 re-election campaign, Mr. Snow raised eyebrows by using his celebrity to raise money for Republican candidates something that by Mr. Snows own admission, other press secretaries had declined to do for fear of seeming too partisan.
Wasn't Bush reelected in 2004?? Apparently the NYT is occasionally [and that's being generous] short on the facts.
Rush took this on, on Fox. He said how he was really mad about this.
Oh, by the way, I was listening to someone else and they were talking about how Tony was extremely hard walking and his office was floor to wall books.
No command of the facts, nothing. AP is mad because when Tony took on their liberal icons, his masterful COMMAND of the facts would reduce them to dust.
Very glad Rush took this on while he was on the air. Classless and disgusting are many among the “party of tolerance and love.”
CLASSLESS AP is very classless. My folks told me IF I CAN’T SAY SOMETHING NICE, DON’T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL. So since I can’t say what I’m thinking about those A$$HOLES at the A$$HOLE PRESS.
Yeah, but do you think the mods there at DU will pull any threads or posts celebrating the death of Tony Snow?
Somehow I doubt that.
Having briefly served as a speechwriter to the first President Bush, he accepted the call to take charge at the White House press podium in May 2006, replacing Scott McClellan, whose reputation was for seldom saying anything quotable or of substance.ZING!!
Tony, Rest in Peace. You'll be at the table with some great leaders -- including Ronald Reagan.
Well just having been honest about your failings you’ve taken a few more steps towards being a good Christian...
They delete posts about as much as our mods do.
