Some Feminist: Debt-Ridden Hillary Wants the Man to Pick Up the Check
North Star Writers Group ^ | July 12, 2008 | Dan Calabrese

How long ago it seems that supposedly rational Democrats were calling for Hillary Clinton to exit the presidential race, arguing that the math simply couldn’t work out for her to win the nomination, and that she was standing in the way of party unity.

The reply from Hillary’s supporters? “Sexist! It’s not over! Why should she have to quit? You wouldn’t tell a man to quit!”

They scoffed at the notion that a prolonged primary campaign would work against party unity going into the general election campaign. And Hillary did not exit the race until days after Barack Obama had mathematically clinched the nomination, and even then only after being told the cold, hard facts by supporters who refused to indulge her any further in the fantasy that she could somehow find a way to win.

A man always picks up the check for the woman. There's very little men can do to feel masculine these days and if they can't take care of a woman, they feel their role in a relationship is redundant. Women who understand men let them take care of them.

The clintons are worth a hundred million, yet they want the tax payers to pick up their debts?!

No matter that they still get free govt. checks for having been in the WH.

These people are so shameless.

I love the way Obamarama left the stage then went back up to ask people to pay her debt.

I half-expected booing and jeers to start (I wish it would have)

I disagree. Hillary is doing no such thing. This is typical Clinton politics. Hillary wants the money for her part in maintaining party unity and keeping the peace. She lost a bitter, hard-fought race and she wants something for it.

Typical early morning conversation with my wife:

Me: Can you please pick up my dry cleaning on your way home from shopping?

Her: What do you think I am? Your slave? Now get your lazy a$$ out of bed and go earn me a living.

Well, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit. But my wife DOES on occasion accuse me of treating her like a slave when I ask routine favors. However, since she is a stay-at-home-maker, I don’t consider this out of line. All the while, she totally misses the point that I am the one who goes out everyday and earns a living. So who is whose slave?

I’ve heard of that attitude before. Today’s women demand so much of men and then when they’re expected to give back they’re ‘oppressed’. They cut their men off sexually because they ‘don’t feel like it’, meanwhile conveniently forgetting the things men have to do every day that they ‘don’t feel like’ doing. I know women who sound proud that they call the shots in the bedroom and elsewhere. It’s sad, really.

we have similar conversations.
My work load at home has increased the past couple of years with the births of children #7 And #8.
My hubby works hard and is thinking “wife is home with the kids - how nice for her”
But really - when he spends a day home with the kids he is very ready to return to work.

I’m thinking “he gets to interact with adults all day and gets recognized for it with a salary and recognition for his hard work - how nice for him.”
But I’m sure if I spent time trying to do his job, I would be ready to go back home to the kids.

The only way out of that resentment trap is to be thankful for each other - recognize each others’ contributions - and it could be worse, you could be single parents trying to swing it all alone.

I know, but enough of us to make marriage a risky proposition.

I often tell my wife that I’m ready to be kept. Anytime she wants to switch places, just let me know. So far, she has never taken me up on it.

“I often tell my wife that I’m ready to be kept.”

That’s why you’re getting attitude.
If my hubby said that to me he’d get attitude too.

Do you really think she isn’t doing anything all day?

What do you think it would cost you in child care if she wasn’t there?

Many men are very capable to stay home to care for the kids. Men live an average of 8 years less than women due to the stress of earning a living. I don’t think any woman has an argument about the difficulties of raising kids versus banging out a career.

“Many men are very capable to stay home to care for the kids.”

Anyone is “capable”.
Not everyone does stay home with the kids, and not everyone is good at it.
So like I said - spouses should be thankful for each others’ contributions.

“Men live an average of 8 years less than women due to the stress of earning a living. “

Is that why they die sooner?
What do you have to back that up?
I remember reading it has more to do with men ignoring trips to the doctor - or ignoring signs they are in poor health.

“I don’t think any woman has an argument about the difficulties of raising kids versus banging out a career.”

I’ve done both.
Being home is harder work, but it is more rewarding.

Becoming adversaries and trying to play oneupmanship is never good for a marriage.
No one wins at that game.
