“I’m in Illinois so a vote for McCain here is meaningless as he has zero chance of carrying Illinois and its electoral votes. I can vote for McCain or Howdy Doody, and it won’t make a bit of difference as to the outcome in Illinois. So, I’ll be casting a protest vote and will vote for whomever has the best position on getting rid of the illegals.”

I feel the same here in California. I’m playing with the idea of voting for Chuck Baldwin for President, but the only thing holding me back is the national popular vote.

A protest vote might be counterproductive.

The liberals want to get rid of the Electoral College. I worry that McCain could win the Presidency but a lot of conservatives in Blue States will not have voted for McCain, thus skewing the popular vote. Obama could end up with a large majority of votes, thus opening the door for a serious chance of changing the system.

Still, that’s only a potential battle so I’ll probably still vote my principles this time around, which means Baldwin. I’m more comfortable with the Constitution Party platform than the Republican. The Independent Party is way too far left for me.
