This article is accurate. Not only Medicare, but also private insurance companies, are being scammed on DME. I have an oxygen concentrator for COPD. My insurance company was being billed $200 monthly for the machine. When my husband's employer put a $1000 maximum on DME per year, I decided to buy my own rather than pay the $200 the home health co. was charging. I bought a top-of-the-line unit for $600. That was a real eye-opener.

i use a cpap machine....i can buy the machine brand spankin new for 350.00....the medical supply house i got mine from billed the insurance company 1400.00

Not to mention the scam artists ripping off the system. There was an article on here about Medicaid fraud in Florida awhile back. Some clown sold the same piece of medical equipment something like 50 times before he was caught.
Just try to imagine the fraud monster in a nationalized health system.
