I can’t see The Postman as a remake of Red Dawn.
It was a very original story with a very interesting premise (the whole “postman” thing).
I know it was looooong (three hours), but I sorta liked it.
Colt carbines on horsback.
Cool.
I thrilled to the David Brin novel “The Postman.”
But in the book, the head villain “The General” and his inner circle are genetically-engineered former super-warriors capable of feats that human flesh and bone could not possibly sustain. He’s also a sadistic psycho who castrates all the slaves in his domain. He’s finally done in by an even more advanced model who rules a neighboring palatine who our hero manages to persuade to join the fight. The Kevin Costner movie was actually less goofy in that respect.
I did love those cool sweaters.
