DA clears Ramsey family By The Denver Post Article Last Updated: 07/09/2008 01:44:05 PM MDT

The Boulder District Attorney's Office announced today that new DNA evidence discovered in the clothing worn by JonBenet Ramsey identifies "the perpetrator of the homicide" and excludes all members of the murdered girl's family.

District Attorney Mary Lacy said in a letter posted on the DA's website and first reported by Paula Woodward of 9News that the Ramsey family "be treated only as victims," and she apologized to them.

Six-year-old JonBenét was discovered Dec. 26, 1996, with a garrote around her neck in the basement of her parents' Boulder home.

No one has ever been charged in her death, Boulder police once said "an umbrella of suspicion" was over her parents, Patsy and John Ramsey.

Tabloids pointed the finger at their son, Burke Ramsey, who was 9 when his sister was killed.

But today, in a letter to John Ramsey, Lacy said her office wantwd "to state that we do not consider your immediate family, including you, your wife, Patsy, and your son, Burke, to be under any suspicion in the commission of this crime.

"I wish we could have done so before Mrs. Ramsey died."

Patsy Ramsey died June 26, 2006, of ovarian cancer at age 49.

Lacy's office took over the investigation into JonBenet's death in December 2002. Last year, Lacy attended a National Institute of Justice program on forensic Biology and DNA that introduced her to a new techology called "touch DNA," she said in the release.

"Forensic scientists scrape a surface where there is no observable stain or other indication of possible DNA in an effort to recover for analysis any genetic material that might nonetheless be present. This methodology was not well known in this country until recently and is still used infrequently," she said.

At the end of last year her office opted to work with Bode Technology Group near Washington, D.C., on the Ramsey case.

It was proven that Patsy Ramsey wrote the abduction note. Why did she do that?

Proven by whom? Do you have a link? Or are you just throwing out baseless charges cause you now see that maybe you were wrong in believing that they were guilty?

You aren't alone. Many freepers had this case 'solved.' In fact one freeper said the evidence was in the pineapple! She was serious!

And the 9/11 hang up call several days prior to JB’s death ... from the Ramsey home.

Have you never heard of kids calling 911 just to see what happens? It happens all the time!

I’m not convinced. Too many coincidences.

I’m not saying the parents are guilty. I just don’t believe they are cleared. The Boulder DA’s office was divided over this issue as well.

There were in fact handwriting experts who said she didn’t write it.

The best the police could come up with was an expert who said it was inconclusive.

If you want to see how the police and the media bungled this case, look up the old Vanity Fair issue which went over the whole case with a fine-toothed comb.

I suspected the Ramseys knew more than they let on. Until I read that story and saw all the lies that were in the media. It is a disgrace what happened to that couple.

LOL! The facts show that you can't speak for yourself.

What in the world are you trying to communicate?

I’ve followed this case since the night it happened. I’ve read the Vanity Fair article and the books. You might also enjoy Websleuths where I am also a poster [but not on this subject recently] ...

You are welcome to your opinion. I have mine.

The same DNA on 3 different areas of the clothings shows there was definitely a strange male involved. This is ample evidence to clear the Ramsays who had no motive for killing their daughter and, indeed, there is no evidence linking them to the killing.

However, even though the DNA evidence is strong enough to clear the Ramsays, there is quite a bit of additional evidence compiled by Lou Smit which also indicates their innocence.

What's your theory? That some strange man collaborated with the Ramsays to kill their daughter?

Did you believe the police on the footprints as well?

I do not know who killed JBR,
but it was not someone who did not know her.

I do know that John and Patsy lawyered-up
with big-time Democrat Lawyers who could control the
Boulder DA and the Democrat Governor Roy Romer.

The autopsy showed long and continued sexual abuse of JBR.
This was corroborated by her Pediatrician.

She died from a garroting, which is used in sexual abuse

Aren’t you watching Greta Van Sustern? A panel of experts incldsing Dr. Michael Baden said this proves nothing. Said the scene was massively contaminated.

Let me see ... do your credentials trump those of a top pathologist?

Check around. Not everyone falls for the easy line.

This is common knowledge so I'm not sure exactly what point you are trying to make here.

The autopsy showed long and continued sexual abuse of JBR. This was corroborated by her Pediatrician.

Do you mean before the night of the murder? If so, I believe this is untrue, but would be happy to be persuaded if you can provide a credible report of this.

As far as hiring some Democrat legal help, I'm sure I would have to hire Dem legal help in my state if I got in trouble as well since it is a heavily Democratic state and Demcrats have more of the needed connections to work thru the judicial system.

Wasn't there a drifter who was staying with a family across the street? If the people across the street knew of the bonus, they may have discussed it in front of the drifter. Curious that no fingerprints were on the ransom note.

Not true. The panel of experts, including Micheal Baden said it proves nothing.

You’re just upset that you cannot bully me into believing the way you do. But other experts do NOT agree with your simplistic opinion.

Jphn Michael Karr was on. The guy who confessed to her murder, HE agrees with you.

I’m in much better company. Deal with it.

I guess yours trump those of a man who has solved 95% of his murder cases and who has compiled a healthy list of evidence that the Keystone Cops totally missed which tend toward an intruder?

Dr. Michael Baden says it proves nothing. He’s just one world known pathologist who does NOT agree with you.

Deal with it.

Not everyone has to accespt your opinion as fact.

What about that guy in Thailand that they brought back over here a few years ago? At the time they thought he did it. Did that case collapse too?
