But we DID do something to him. We sent him to jail. And took away the dogs he was abusing. And now he’s bankrupt. It seems to me that justice was served. I love dogs but I don’t think we ought to kill a human being over hurting dogs. He is being severely punished and I think it will make other people think twice about doing anything like this in the future. And hopefully Mr. Vick can do some soul searching and turn his life around. It isn’t yet too late.
And I’m happy to hear that the dogs are doing well now. A good ending to a sad story.
“...the first thing that will happen when Vick gets out of prison is that Vick will be signed by any number of NFL teams...”
I hope Jerry Jones passes on Vick. We don’t need any more problems. Well, other than Packman Jones. The jury is still out on him since he’s been in Dallas.
(The bankruptcy filing says that his assets are between $10 million and $50 million, and his )
Typical horsecrap. How are your assets between anything? You either have 10 million or 50 million. Asset is not a sliding scale.
Standard lawyer nonsense........
Plus, his sick, violent nature, in and of itself is his greatest asset when it comes to succeeding in the gangsta rap industry... Now that he's a convicted criminal and clearly a cruel and twisted thug, he's got "street cred".
Standard CONGRESSIONAL nonsense....
Wow. Just as Vick held out hope that his opponent's dog met a violent death, you wish the same to Vick. Quite a self-commentary. More than a little disturbing, actually. JMO.
To be honest, I didn’t think either of those crimes were federal ones. Could it be that it went to federal court because of gambling or other fraudulent money issues involved with the dog fighting?
So you believe that Vick's life is worth more than those of the animals Vick abused. That's disgusting.
What an interesting debating style you are employing. Make stuff up about the person you are debating with, and then condemn them for what you have made up about them.
Of course, you will go absolutely silent when asked to demonstrate that I have ever said what you suggest above.
A couple of reasons from this 2007 link on dogfighting in Wyoming....
When it's a misdemeanor, the fines are so low it's just a cost of doing business, and then there are the ancillary crimes that occur. Dogfighting's big money. Aside from the large scale animal cruelty, those other reasons make it well worth felony status.
I love a happy ending.

I’m just glad I finally got my Michael Vick Dog Chew Toy that I ordered *last* September (after reading about it here on FR) - it came in June and is a startling likeness. My dog, however, is not interested in chewing it up. Nor is the parrot. (groan)
I am as anti dogfighting as anyone can be. I own two pit bulls, work with a local pit bull rescue, foster abused pits, yada yada yada...I’ve seen things done to dogs that would make you sick to your stomach, lose sleep, weep, want to kill the person who did such things, etc. I am glad Vick was caught and his crimes stopped and that he was punished according to the law. But, I will have to say, I do believe Michael Vick has value as a human being. He is a man; a man who did horrible things. I believe he is capable of reforming and redeeming himself. I certainly don’t wish him dead. In the end of it all, he lost everything. Maybe now, just maybe, he won’t be blinded by the glitter, glam and wealth, and maybe he’ll come out a better man. I believe he has the potential regardless of his past.
You're accusing me of being no better than Vick. I'm not the one who sadistically fights and kills dogs for kicks.
Our daughter is also our tenent and the single mom of our granddaughter. With one dog already, she got a pit bull and then kept it a secret for over a month. We were pretty upset but can’t really do anything. Anyway, I met him this past weekend. They came to our farm, we were shooting fireworks and of the three dogs there, the pit was the best. Calm, friendly but not agressively friendly, and totally not agressive to our dog. One dog at a time.

you will find a feedback form re this matter. I suggested that the prosecuting attorney who approved this plea bargain should be put in the ring along with Vick to face the dogs that were abused.
