A Northwest Airlines 757-200 sustained damage inflight Sunday as it neared Tampa, Fla. The plane's nose cone, also known as the radome, was dented. While a bird was the initial suspect, regulators are now saying the dent apparently resulted from "internal structural failure." The plane landed safely. NW Airlines? No surprise. They’re the home built, primer coated, grease monkey jalopies of the air.

There are no stringers backing up the nose cone of an
airplane . Could be plain fatigue failure due to air pressure, given maybe an initial crack there.... Or maybe they hit a bird.
