“the 1970 Occupational Health and Safety Act.”
How can a bureaucratic creation trump an individual right? This judge has the brain of a flea.
So Disney doesn't' trust its employees? What about the food serve workers who could poison guests? Ride operators and maintainers who could kill dozens with a few bolt turnings? And anyone bent on mayhem who could just ignore the rule, since they're going to get fired at a minimum anyway, and run amok with no one to stop them?
It's a dumb exception in first place, if the employees have access to real explosives, what's a gun or two going to matter when one of them loses his cabbage? (Except that no one will be able to shoot his sorry a$$ before he sets them off).
Secondly, Fireworks?
Give me a FReeping Break!
If Mickey thinks he is above the law he is #$%^@&g Goofy!
‘Not commenting on whether Disney has its own justice system, but trespass usually requires a refusal to leave.”
It sure does, most places like a shopping mall have to ask you to leave and have you refuse before actual trespass becomes an issue. The parks all have signs saying weapons are verbotten. Its my understanding thats why they think they can press charges because you were warned. I don’t know how often the charges stick but Disney pretty much owns the legal system in central Florida.
“Disney advised its employees late last month that the theme-park resort is exempt from that state law”
Huh???
Whats going to happen when the Disney parks get a bunch of terrorists running around with AK 47s, IEDs or gas bombs? I would think any theme park would be a target rich environment.
I would actually feel safer knowing that concealed carry was happening in the park, last time I went I carried a .380 compact with me, next time I may do it as well or have a stun gun.
They’re claiming an exemption because they use fireworks. IIRC, its described early in the thread. I’ve read another similar explanation.
I just read the whole thread. It won’t stand up, since fireworks manufacturing is not the rat’s primary business.
The particularly sad thing is Orlando is actually a fairly high crime area. Especially the areas around the parks where criminals prey on tourists. Its policed pretty heavily but car jackings and robberies are not uncommon.
I get so sick of hearing this disingenuous argument. Disney is not private property in the same sense that your house is private property. It IS A PUBLIC BUSINESS. They cannot keep people out because they're black. They cannot keep people out because they're handicapped. They cannot keep people out because they're gay. There are different expectations of what you can and cannot allow if you open a business to the public. If you open a public business you must lower your expectations on who and what you may allow on your property. (But of course you knew that. This argument has been gone over so many times on this forum that you'd have to be blind not to have seen it before. I don't know why I even bothered responding. )
Now:
Yes 16141 81.8%
No 3423 17.4%
I don’t know 164 0.8%
Different computer :)
AG, governor seek reversal on gun ruling (OK)
The appeals court will not issue its decision until later this year or next year.
I don't know if it can reverse decisions retroactively, but OK can still win on appeal, IMHO.
Wrong question, should have been: Does an American have the right to keep and bear arms, uninfringed?" I doubt the poll takers would even get this right.(pun intended)
apples / oranges...
BTW, my wife and I went to the Patton museum [on Ft Knox ] and the only thing the MPs said was that we must be 'Bonnie & Clyde' as we were required to unload and store em in the trunk...
It's even better than that. The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed- this includes Disney. They've every right to move their park to a location beyond the jurisdiction of the U.S. Constitution.
Yes, no 2nd amendment on Disney grounds. However, they do allow open buggery on the streets in Candy Cane Lane. And forget about the Butt Pirates of the Carribean and Mad Teabag Party rides...
Agree....... as usual common sense evades the minority !
My last trip too a “explosives manufacturing” facility included a question at the security of “was I armed” and I said yes and I was asked too leave firearm and spark producing items in my POV and secured. Common sense in play makes such an easy day !
Airbase near where I live and visit a few times a year always looks at my retired ID, and asks same question and as you stated , requests that I place my sidearm into the trunk or a locked container until I leave !
