Well, what I can tell you is this: In California when the "orientation" fascists began homosexual "tolerance" education in K-6, a new taunt was borne on the playground: "You're so gay!". It became the new grounds for a fight. Then the orientation fascists had to do a speech code thing: Penalties if one used the word "gay" as a perjorative. The kiddies got ever more creative. So then the orientation fascists got so upset that things were running out of their control, they revamped the entire pub ed curriculum, so that nothing of substance was taught. Result? More families pulling out of pub ed; while Politicians were freaking out that more families were moving out and away from their districts, thereby cutting the current and future tax revenue base.

So the politicians and unions came up with a newer, more inventive way to create a baseline of jobs/economy - Sanctuary cities and the like to replace those leaving "the base". Crime has been rising to the point where even the politicians and union folks are leaving the base: Police, firefighters, teachers. And more and more of those who remain and are of sound mind, are demanding 2nd amendment rights for themselves.

Even the liberals are demanding the right to own guns to defend their loved ones and property.

And the amount of name-calling, casual thoughtless comments GROWS in California. Desperation has many masters.
