It may well be that Sunni Syria would like to split from Iran and seek protection from us, but the reasons for that are beyond B Walters.

Anyone who has seen the Syrian ambassador on tv should know it is a very slippery regime, when I see him I'm almost convinced that ratbag terrorist dictatorship is a great place.

Many a serial killer has been "intelligent and charming" and Assad like his dad is a serial killer. My goodness Babs, do you have to look any farther than Lebanon to know how evil Syria has been?

Ted Bundy was considered "intelligent and charming" by many people, IIRC.

All kinds of sociopaths can be intelligent and charming when they are not busy killing you, your family and friends, or other swaths of humanity who get in their way.

For that matter, both Hitler and Stalin were "intelligent and charming" to many who met with them one-on-one or in a small setting, and there were many articles written in that era by journalists and diplomats who were dim-witted dupes like Barbara Walters, saying that those bloody dictators were just misunderstood.

Whether Syria really wants better relations with the USA or whether they are merely yanking our chain for PR purposes, they are huge sponsors of terrorism, especially Hizbollah...... they have wrecked Lebanon and contributed greatly to the bloody problems in Iraq. We should not allow morons like Barbara Walters to distract our focus.
